Shiyan: Wudang temples, martial arts and respectful boundaries

Wudang Mountain is one of Shiyan’s clearest cultural gateways. Wudang martial arts, temple music and temple fairs are all protected heritage, but they are not one interchangeable “show”: martial arts include disciplined training and health practices, temple music belongs first to a religious setting, and fairs occur at particular times and places. None should be treated as the daily life of every Shiyan resident.
