INDUSTRY CLUSTER · New energy & green mobility
Shiyan New-energy Vehicle Components
Shiyan’s new-energy vehicle component sector builds on its established automotive base and is extending into battery materials, cells, and motor parts. The development zones host cluster activity, Zhangwan has cell projects, and Yunyang accommodates cathode materials and retrofit work.
Formation and regional foundations
Vehicle and component experience supplies quality systems, supply-chain knowledge, and engineering talent. Battery projects add materials chemistry, clean production, and safety demands, while technical-service platforms and R&D institutes support testing, trials, and process improvement.
Shiyan’s new-energy transition adds cathode materials, cells, and lightweight motor parts to an existing automotive engineering system. Projects sit at very different stages, so capacity claims must follow actual construction progress.

01 · A new-energy branch of the auto sector
Established component skills provide an engineering base.
Shiyan provides the citywide industrial landscape for new-energy vehicle components, while the formal cluster list, Zhangwan battery cells and Yunyang cathode materials retain different spatial contexts. The provincial development-and-reform list places the intelligent and specialised new-energy commercial-vehicle research and manufacturing cluster in Shiyan Economic and Technological Development Zone and Shiyan High-tech Industrial Park.
The two-zone label does not place every leading enterprise at one site, and Zhangwan and Yunyang material cannot become one industrial park. Leading entities in the formal cluster may concern complete vehicles, services, materials, or other stages and cannot all be called component producers.
Shiyan new-energy component information uses different scopes, including the city, industrial zones, districts and individual product stages, while retaining statistical year, publication time and factual status. A formal list confirms cluster name and inclusion, industry reporting describes its contemporary setting, statistics apply only to the defined population, and a project notice states a particular development stage.
- The automotive setting explains transition conditions but cannot replace data for the new-energy segment.
02 · Two figures of 32
R&D institutes and above-scale firms are different populations.
The provincial science report records 16 public technical-service and related platforms and 32 R&D institutions. A later full-year report separately records 32 above-scale new-battery-related enterprises in Shiyan in 2024 and RMB 21.25 billion in output.
Equal numbers do not create equal populations. The two values cannot be merged into 64 or substituted for one another.
Later time series should maintain separate columns for platforms, R&D institutions, above-scale new-battery-related enterprises, and that cohort's output, retaining source and definition. Change can be compared only for the same object, year, and coverage.
- The pair shows research and production depth, but it does not make 64 companies.
03 · A cluster across two development areas
The development zones host projects and shared services.
A provincial list locates the specialised and intelligent new-energy commercial-vehicle cluster in Shiyan’s two development zones and names Wanrun and Envision among its leading firms. It establishes the cluster’s name and area, not company capacity or transactions.
Leading-enterprise inclusion confirms a role at the list date but does not guarantee continuing operation or prove supply and shared facilities among firms. The two zones are cluster-area labels and do not overwrite specific Zhangwan or Yunyang locations in reports.
Cluster research can separately retain formal name, issuing authority, list date, location field, leading entities, and statistical scope. A firm's place in a specific component stage requires separate product or project evidence.
- The formal cluster name defines an organisational scope; firms still depend on their registered and operating locations.
04 · Cathode materials in Yunyang
Cathode-material projects sit upstream of cell production.
Multiple official sources name Hubei Wanrun New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. A 2024 report supplies lithium-iron-phosphate cathode-material R&D and industry context. The formal list names it as a leading enterprise.
“Newly filed,” “retrofit,” and “project” describe a public-notice stage and does not demonstrate completion, acceptance, or commissioning. The field-visit report publishes no company-specific outcomes and cannot fill capacity, output, or revenue.
Retrofit status can be checked through filing, notice, environmental review, tender, construction, completion, acceptance, permissions, and actual production records without skipping stages. Wanrun's current status also needs recent registration, permissions, and direct disclosure.
- Wanrun’s retrofit or expansion should distinguish intended capacity from lines already operating.
05 · Cell projects in Zhangwan
Cell production requires strict environment, safety, and consistency controls.
Official material identifies Envision AESC Technology (Hubei) Co., Ltd. and describes battery-cell settings within a Zhangwan production context. The formal list includes it as a leading enterprise, a 2025 provincial visit confirms contemporary identity, and two reports add 2024 and 2025 battery-industry observations.
Reported production lines, daily cell output, first-quarter output, orders, technical specifications and vehicle exports belong to specified dates and a company context. They neither enter the four city metrics nor guarantee continuation. CNY 21.25 billion refers to the citywide group of 32 above-scale battery-related firms and cannot be assigned to Envision alone.
Current assessment of Envision should check registration, permissions, direct company disclosure, annual output, and explicit customer records, distinguishing daily cell observations, quarterly output, and full-year company data. Zhangwan locates a report rather than the two zones or city.
- Envision AESC’s progress should be understood through construction milestones and commissioning information.
06 · A hollow-shaft process for motors
Lightweight parts show established machining adapting to NEV needs.
A provincial industry-department attachment for newly filed projects lists Shiyan Jintian Automotive Components Co., Ltd. and a “new-energy motor hollow-shaft project,” confirming the legal name and project direction. It gives no detailed site, executed investment, construction progress, equipment, permissions, capacity, output or customers. Jintian is also absent from the separate visit report, so information about firms in that report cannot be attributed to it.
A project title does not demonstrate construction start, completion, acceptance, or commissioning and does not reveal shaft specifications, vehicle models, customers, or orders. Visits to Wanrun and Envision do not mean Jintian received the same review, and battery-company metrics, lines, or operating observations cannot transfer to Jintian.
Later project review should seek filing status, environmental review, land, tender, construction, completion, acceptance, permissions, and actual production documents, retaining a date for each stage. Without direct documentation, the project remains newly filed and publicly noticed.
- The Jintian notice shows construction intent rather than stable volume supply.
07 · A sample trial is not a long-term order
Technical exchange often precedes a commercial relationship.
A 2024 official-media report says authorities were advancing Wanrun into Envision's supply system after sample tests. A later formal list names both as leading enterprises, while a project notice and field visit add retrofit and company-review contexts.
A passed sample test is a technical-validation milestone, while advancement into a supply system is a policy and business-promotion state. Neither equals continuous supply or an executed order. Inclusion in the same cluster and participation in the same visit also do not prove ownership, equity, shared capacity, logistics or technology transfer.
Before adding a company relationship, obtain direct documentation naming both entities, product or sample, date, order or contract, delivery, and performance state. A sample can be marked as a contemporary test, and promotion as an unclosed cooperation stage.
- Wanrun’s samples and testing with Envision AESC need later agreements and performance to establish continuing trade.
08 · Following the component path
Materials, cells, and motor shafts call for separate visits.
Six authoritative materials form a bounded picture of Shiyan new-energy vehicle components. Science material identifies platforms and research institutions, annual reporting provides a defined group of above-scale battery firms and its output, and the formal list supplies the dual-zone cluster name. Project notices cover Wanrun's retrofit and Jintian's hollow-shaft project, while visits and official-media reporting add the contemporary Wanrun and Envision settings.
Industry reading should distinguish six factual types: innovation capability, enterprise cohort, output, product, project, and relationship. The two values of 32 are especially easy to confuse and require their labels.
Further investigation can choose an innovation platform, cathode materials, cells, or motor components, then use current Shiyan and Hubei science, industry, and development-and-reform channels for lists, project status, and entity information. Contact only an organisation that explicitly offers access, confirming address, booking, safety, and confidentiality.
- Confirm park access, project status, and products before comparing technical platforms and supply-chain positions.
