Nanjing: Qinhuai lanterns and Jinling street life

The Qinhuai River, Laomendong and Qinhuai lantern craft are three entry points into Nanjing’s old city and festive culture. The Qinhuai Lantern Festival, Nanjing Baiju and Nanjing velvet flowers represent public celebration, local performing art and traditional craft respectively, but not the whole of city life.

  • Recognise the setting in which culture actually occurs — Qinhuai lantern craft draws on paper construction, painting, calligraphy and paper cutting. The craft and the public Qinhuai Lantern Festival around Spring Festival are related, but they are not the same thing.
  • Participate only where the setting clearly allows it — Outside festival season, begin at folk and intangible-heritage museums and old-city districts. During the lantern fair, follow official zones and booking information.
  • Separate residents’ lives, ritual and performance — During the festival, follow that year’s published zones, booking, transport and crowd guidance. Do not touch lantern installations or obstruct artisans, and keep quiet in residential lanes.

Yuhuatai’s software sector, urban-infrastructure customers and robot firms moved equipment from remote tools towards autonomous inspection and controlled manipulation. The district cluster entered the 2024 national SME characteristic-cluster public list.

CNC systems, machine-bed castings and test-cut workpieces belong to control, mechanical and delivery questions, and enter one project discussion only when drawings, interfaces and acceptance definitions align. Lishui machine accuracy emerges from CNC drives, spindles, beds, guideways and final assembly. Geometry describes the assembled state, while a representative cut after warm-up reveals error at production cadence.
  • LOCAL INDUSTRY · Nanjing Yuhuatai rail-transit power equipment — Yuhuatai rail-power equipment is responsible not for one motor but for the energy order of a train through acceleration, coasting, braking and degraded operation. DC link, traction converter, motor, wheel-rail adhesion, auxiliary supply and vehicle network only become meaningful when they enter the line under one configuration. Yuhuatai software and electronics capabilities supplied control and test talent, while entities such as Huashi Electronics extended traction systems across rail modes and joint laboratories added simulation and verification. The cluster remains within evidenced traction, power, control and test equipment rather than all software services or every Nanjing rail project.
