Alxa: Ejin poplars, oasis water and community life
Ejin’s poplar landscape depends on the lower Heihe water system and a fragile oasis. Bridges, shuttles and seasonal crowds belong to the managed tourism area; they do not make every poplar woodland open to visitors.
- Recognise the setting in which culture actually occurs — Compare living and dead-standing trees, water and sand, and use named bridge sectors and signs to identify where you are.
- Participate only where the setting clearly allows it — Sunrise, sunset and photography visits remain subject to capacity, last shuttles and fire rules; never leave paths for a photograph.
- Separate residents’ lives, ritual and performance — Poplars are not climbing props and dead wood must remain in place. Do not photograph residents, herding households or private courtyards without consent.
