Yingtan Yujiang eyewear
Yujiang concentrates frames, lenses, components and finished assembly in one county chain, while wearers experience optical centre, power, frame symmetry and skin contact. Reading glasses, sports protection and products with electronics have different safety interfaces and cannot be covered by one eyewear-manufacturing claim.
Formation and regional foundations
Returnee entrepreneurship and the eyewear park extended Zhongtong trade into frame welding, plating, lenses and finished spectacles, while trade bodies and standards linked firms with testing. Retail refraction and clinical eye care remain outside; export destinations and county totals do not become one firm’s customers or capacity.
A pair can look symmetric on a table yet shift vision through pupillary distance, optical centre, nose pads or temple angle when worn. Lens processing, frame welding, surface finishing and final adjustment must retain the same identity before comfort and optical safety share an answer.

Which deviation moves the real line of sight
Left and right lenses, frame and fittings retain pair identity, while optical data and wearing geometry meet on the finished product.
- Lens blank and prescription — Left and right blanks separately carry prescription, material, base curve and optical marks before edging.
- Frame sheet and metal wire — Acetate, steel, titanium and other frame stocks form eyewires, bridges and temples through their own springback and joining routes.
- Welds, hinges and nose pads — Joints, hinges, pads and temple tips share repeated opening, lens retention and contact with the face.
- Plating and surface coating — Plating and coatings cover sweat-contact areas, with adhesion, corrosion and metal release assessed for the material route.
- Finished-spectacle assembly bench — The assembly bench combines lens coordinates, frame number, groove and sided components into one identifiable pair.
- Optical and wearing inspection — Power, optical centres, vertical imbalance and wearing geometry are checked on the completed spectacles.
01 · Lens blanks bound the optical range before surfacing
Index, base curve and diameter set later allowance.
A lens blank sets the optical and geometric range available to a pair of spectacles. Refractive index affects thickness, Abbe value relates to dispersion, and base curve and diameter determine the edge allowance after prescription surfacing. Those properties are selected with frame shape, the prescription for each eye and intended use; sunglasses, reading spectacles and sports protectors cannot share stock merely because their blanks look similar. A progressive blank also keeps the relation between its permanent marks and fitting cross, so reduced visibility after polishing does not erase corridor direction.
If left and right blanks come from different indices or lots, edging can reveal differences in colour, thickness and weight, while the wearer notices only pressure or visual imbalance. Material identity is difficult to recover by sight after polishing or tinting, and transmittance alone does not reconstruct base curve or machining allowance. Once the blank loses its prescription identity, later centring and final inspection may validate the wrong material combination. When an order includes photochromic, blue-control or antireflection treatment, that function is identified on each physical lens rather than left only on the outer package, and the finished pair is checked for a consistent response.
At preparation, the prescription, frame shape and use determine the blank. Each eye is identified separately, with material code, transmittance and diameter checked for adequate edging allowance. When physical marks disappear during machining, accompanying identity keeps the two lenses distinct rather than operator memory. Minimum thickness and optical behaviour are checked after glazing, and any change in use, wrap or material triggers a new blank selection. Tinted or polarising lenses are also viewed against a white field and in transmitted light, because a frontal appearance alone can miss colour imbalance or stress patterns.
- Each blank keeps its left-or-right identity through edging.
02 · Power and optical centre need one coordinate system
Correct power with a displaced centre still changes prism.
Sphere, cylinder, axis and optical centre together determine the path of vision, so correct power alone does not make a correct pair. Pupillary distance and fitting height connect prescription coordinates to the wearer; displaced centres introduce unwanted prism, and vertical imbalance is particularly uncomfortable. Layout marks before and after edging must use one coordinate system, or rotation during glazing can turn sound lenses into a faulty combination. For a high-minus lens, the thinnest edge also depends on eye shape and decentration, so centring has to balance safe edge thickness with appearance.
When layout marks drift or lenses are swapped, a focimeter may still read each prescription correctly even though their relative positions in the frame are wrong. Progressive or high-cylinder lenses are especially sensitive to rotation, producing fatigue, dizziness or postural compensation. Ready-made non-prescription spectacles still need controlled centres, because horizontal and vertical imbalance can create unwanted prism; zero power is not an exemption.
Before edging, axis, centre and left-right identity are confirmed, with pupillary distance, fitting height and frame data included in layout. After glazing and final frame adjustment, power, axis, centre distance and vertical imbalance are measured again on the finished pair rather than copied from the uncut lenses. A changed frame, recut groove or replacement lens alters the coordinate relationship and requires the pair to be laid out again.
- Pupillary distance and fitting height connect prescription to face.
03 · Acetate and metal frames follow different forming routes
Machining and welding heat do not create the same defects.
Acetate and metal frames follow different forming routes from the material stage. Moisture, heating, machining and polishing shape an acetate eyewire, while metal hardness, tool radius and joining heat govern springback and local distortion. Eye size, symmetry and planarity are measured after recovery has stabilised; the temporary shape immediately after heating does not represent the glazed frame.
Residual stress in an eyewire is released when the lens is inserted, opening one side, twisting the bridge or changing temple drop. Repeated heating for cosmetic adjustment can destabilise acetate and weaken a metal joint. Titanium, stainless steel and acetate require different heating and joining methods; sharing a temperature or weld setting turns material differences into later cracking and distortion.
Heating, forming and cooling windows are set by material. The first frame is checked for eye size, planarity and symmetry after full cooling, then glazed with representative lenses to observe tension. If the shape closes only under continuous force, tooling, springback compensation and stock condition are investigated rather than corrected by forced glazing. A changed material, eye form or bridge position requires a new first-piece check.
- Frame dimensions are judged after material recovery stabilises.
04 · Welds and hinges carry repeated daily opening
Beyond strength, rotation play and loosening matter.
A temple joint opens and closes repeatedly each day, requiring braze, heat-affected material, screw and hinge clearance to work together. A sound-looking weld describes only the surface; operating force, lateral play and loosening after cycling reveal durability. A load-bearing hinge and a decorative joint carry different duties and cannot share one cosmetic inspection in place of mechanical cycling.
Excess joining heat can embrittle a small metal section, while an overtight hinge transfers every opening torque to the screw until it loosens or strips. The wearer may first notice one stiff temple; continued use then pulls the frame out of shape and moves the optical centres. A single operating-force reading on a new frame cannot expose heat damage or the direction of wear.
The joint is first checked for heat effects and filler condition. Initial opening force and lateral play are recorded after hinge assembly, followed by cycles resembling daily removal and wear. Interval measurements separate screw loosening, hinge wear and joint cracking, while frame symmetry is also observed. The temple design passes only if movement remains smooth and the joint stays intact; a new material or hinge receives a separate evaluation.
- Cycle count should resemble real wearing and removal.
05 · Nose pads and temples distribute weight to skin
A few millimetres change pressure and visual height.
Nose pads, temple bends, pantoscopic angle and total weight distribute load across the bridge and ears; a few millimetres change both pressure and visual height. Comfort is not simply loose or tight. Left-right contact, slipping and the position of optical centres after adjustment all matter, while children, adults and active users bring different anthropometry and require different structural allowance.
Unequal clamping tilts the frame, so pain at one pad may coincide with a raised optical centre on the other side. Overtightening temples to stop slip concentrates pressure behind the ears and increases hinge load, while careless pad bending can damage joints or finish. A headform provides repeatability, but real fitting still accounts for facial variation rather than imposing one adjustment on everyone.
Pad spacing, temple spread, bend point and clamping force are recorded on a headform, then actual wear is observed for slip, pressure marks and visual height. Adjustment stays within the material and joint allowance, with symmetry and optical centres rechecked after each step rather than using a hard local bend to hide frame error. Sports use, children or heavier lenses require a fresh contact and retention arrangement.
- Adjustment stays within the frame’s structural allowance.
06 · Plating is both appearance and skin-contact interface
Underlayer adhesion and sealing affect sweat resistance and metal release.
Frame plating is both a finish and a skin-contact interface. Cleaning, activation, underplating, colour layers and sealing successively determine adhesion, sweat resistance and metal release, while final gloss shows only the outer surface. Areas touching the bridge and ears, bent edges and joints are more prone to thin coating or pores, so thickness, adhesion and corrosion behaviour need location-based checks.
A pore is inconspicuous in a dry visual check, yet sweat can start underfilm corrosion and bending can extend the crack. Different substrates and nickel-free requirements need different layer systems; a result on stainless steel cannot simply cover copper alloy or titanium. A flat coupon also misses coating strain after forming, so skin-contact areas are checked again after bending and assembly.
The finish stack is chosen for substrate and contact zone. Cleaning, layer thickness and sealing are controlled, with representative positions taken from pads, temples and bent edges. After adhesion and artificial-sweat exposure, blistering, colour change and corrosion are inspected, and a bent sample confirms continuity. A change in substrate, colour system or nickel-free target requires new release and durability work.
- Visible gloss cannot replace corrosion and chemical tests.
07 · Sports eyewear must protect after impact
Lens release and frame fracture are more serious than ordinary distortion.
During impact, wrap, lens retention and flexible contact zones share the energy in sports eyewear. An unbroken lens is not enough: it must not eject from the frame or create a sharp injury edge. Impact resistance, retention, coverage and field of view need to match the direction of use, and tests for ordinary optical spectacles cannot substitute for a protective structure.
Material can embrittle after cold exposure or ageing, and a previously secure groove may lose retention through dimensional change. An impact aimed away from a weak zone proves only a favourable position; frontal, lateral and face-contact areas need separate consideration. Adding a battery or electronic module changes mass distribution and fracture risk, so sports-eyewear results do not automatically cover smart glasses.
Samples use the final lens, frame and retention arrangement. Impact points and directions follow the intended sporting risk, with critical checks repeated after cold or ageing. After impact, lens ejection, sharp frame edges, coverage and field of view are examined rather than recording only “not broken.” A changed structure, material or electronic attachment requires the impact path to be assessed again.
- Impact direction and retention define the test meaning.
08 · Final release binds both lenses to one frame identity
Final adjustment may improve appearance or move optical centres.
At final delivery, lenses, frame, screws, pads and finish have become one product that cannot be judged as isolated parts. Final adjustment may improve appearance and fit, but it can also rotate a cylinder axis, move an optical centre or stress a temple joint. Each pair needs its own identity binding both prescriptions, frame reference, assembly and inspection; a polished exhibition sample cannot represent routine production.
Reusing an old inspection after replacing a lens readily creates the wrong combination. The new lens may have the same power but a different centre, material or edge thickness, while the old result says nothing about frame shape or contact after reglazing. Swapped left and right labels can leave appearance normal and reveal the problem only in use, so final comparison must address the physical pair rather than an order summary.
After final adjustment, prescription, axis, optical centres, symmetry, temple movement and finish are measured as a complete set, with frame and lens identities compared item by item. Replacement or structural readjustment reopens every affected check rather than only the repair point. Packaging labels are then produced for that physical pair, keeping the contents matched to results; a changed use or accessory returns to its optical and safety requirements.
- The pre-pack inspection describes that finished pair, not a similar one.
Sources and reading notes
Finished spectacles are considered with use, prescription, dimensions and wearing position. Lens power, frame durability, metal release and sports impact use their respective conditions; an exhibit or trade-show appearance does not establish that a production model has passed every requirement.
- The Yujiang cluster covers eyewear manufacture, excluding clinical refraction and ordinary retail services.
- County export figures indicate orientation but not one firm’s customers, orders or delivery ability.
- Optical, mechanical and skin-contact safety require power, assembly geometry and material tests separately.
- Smart eyewear enters the relevant scope only when electronics, power and software interfaces are evidenced.
