Wenshan speciality processing spans sanqi, chilli, star anise and vegetable products. Yanshan, Qiubei and Maguan each have distinct resources, companies and regulatory settings that prefecture totals cannot erase.

In Wenshan, resources, processing and product qualifications cross several regulatory systems. Sanqi may enter medicines or health foods, while chilli and vegetables connect to food permits, geographical indications and brand directories.

01 · County differences within the prefecture

Wenshan names more than one geographic level.

Specialty foods in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture come from several counties and cities, so materials, brands and processing cannot be reduced to the label Wenshan-made. Yanshan sanqi, Qiubei chilli, Maguan vegetables and firms in Wenshan City sit under different county administration and product qualifications. Understanding one item means keeping its county, raw-material origin, processing site and qualification year together.

Qiubei, Yanshan, and Maguan are independent county contexts, while Wenshan City cannot be exchanged with the similarly named autonomous-prefecture frame.

Planting area, chain value, product protection and brand review stay clear when tied to their county and year.

02 · Area and comprehensive value differ

The three areas cover different crops.

For 2023, Wenshan reported 2.295 million mu of sanqi medicinal materials, RMB 35.2 billion in comprehensive chain value, 1.76 million mu of chilli and 870,000 mu of star anise.

The three areas cover different crops and may reflect multiple cropping or statistical rules, so they do not form one unified base.

Over time, sanqi area and value, chilli area and star-anise area need their own annual series.

03 · Sanqi crosses medicine and food

Product use determines the regulatory route.

The sanqi report spans standardised production, origin processing, circulation, research, and industry management and places prepared herbal pieces beside health foods and health products.

A medicinal material does not automatically qualify as food, and health food does not represent every sanqi product.

Before a sanqi product reaches market, its medicine, health-food or ordinary-food status determines the relevant qualification.

04 · Jinqi’s health-product line in Yanshan

A fieldwork stop shows a dated condition.

A 2024 report hosted by the provincial agriculture department identifies Jinqi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Yanshan and records contexts of deep sanqi development, prepared herbal pieces, health foods, health products, and a sanqi health-food park.

Selection as a fieldwork site does not mean the company or every product holds a particular certification, nor does it prove continuing compliance, present production, or park completion.

Jinqi’s current position depends on permitted products, park progress and actual production rather than one field visit.

05 · Qiubei chilli product varieties

Company reporting names several chilli products.

A 2023 account of Qiubei food processing identifies Qiubei Shengyuan Food Co., Ltd. as then engaged mainly in chilli cultivation and processing. Product examples included roasted Qiubei chilli, mushroom-oil chilli and garlic millet chilli, showing how local raw material entered seasoned and portable foods. These are examples from that year; the current range, licences and sales outside the county still require confirmation with the company.

Statements by a company representative about sales, exports, and products retain their attribution and cannot become continuing exports, a complete range, current sales volume, or revenue.

For Qiubei chilli sold outside the region or abroad, permits, labels, batch tests and customs records should align.

06 · Maguan vegetables and brand status

Annual review applies to that year’s directory.

The Yunnan agriculture department's formal 2025 re-verified list identifies Maguan Shufeng Food Co., Ltd. under Maguan County, Wenshan Prefecture, together with the Shulemei brand and vegetable product category.

The Green Agricultural Products brand-directory title cannot be shortened into green-food certification for every product, and re-verification does not guarantee listing in future years.

Shufeng’s brand status is meaningful alongside a valid production permit and identifiable vegetable products.

07 · No established link among three firms

County products follow different systems.

Jinqi Pharmaceutical in Yanshan connects sanqi with prepared herbal pieces and health products.

Qiubei Shengyuan Food has reported roasted chilli, mushroom-oil chilli and garlic millet chilli.

Maguan Shufeng Food entered the 2025 reviewed list with vegetable products under the Shulemei brand.

Medicines, foods, geographical indications and brand directories each follow distinct qualification rules.

Yanshan sanqi, Qiubei chilli and Maguan vegetables need separate partnership routes because medicines, foods, geographical indications and brand directories follow different rules. On site, begin with the exact licensed products, authorised use of marks and current production, then follow material purchase, grading, processing and lot inspection. For interprovincial or export sales, labels, cold-chain or drying conditions and customs records should point to the same batch.
