Urumqi Food Processing
The economic census separates agricultural processing from food manufacturing in Urumqi. Midong slaughtering, High-tech Zone instant noodles and Economic Development Zone beverages reveal three distinct production paths.
Formation and regional foundations
End-2023 counts of legal entities and workers provide the statistical base. Later green-factory, environmental, fire-safety and environmental-review records add district and project context.
Urumqi combines raw-material processing with convenience-food and beverage manufacturing. Its industry becomes clearer when citywide census results, district regulation and individual projects remain at their own scales.
Core geography: Food-processing nodes across Urumqi, Midong, High-tech and Economic Development zones
Urumqi food-processing nodes
Three processing branches and their districts
Company nodes reflect published districts or classifications, not transactions between firms.
- Urumqi food-manufacturing chain — The city census separates two food-industry divisions.
- Agricultural processing — Entity and employment figures refer to end-2023.
- Food manufacturing — Instant-noodle production appears in the High-tech Zone.
- Beverage manufacturing — Green and regulatory lists show company status.
- Heshengyuan Food — Midong records classify it under livestock slaughter.
- Xinjiang President Enterprises Food — Environmental and fire records locate the noodle plant.
- Master Kong Urumqi Beverage — The beverage plant held annual green-factory status.
01 · Start with city and industry scope
The census sets scale; lists add place.
Food processing in Urumqi is not one undivided industry. The fifth national economic census measures agricultural and sideline-food processing separately from food manufacturing, and legal-entity counts answer a different question from employment. One set indicates business density and the other workforce scale; neither should be converted into an average plant size or current production volume. The census date also remains separate from later operating changes.
The four measures belong to two distinct industrial divisions, and legal-unit counts differ from worker counts.
The census shows scale, while later growth, regulatory lists and proposed projects add change and location.
- Agricultural processing and food manufacturing remain separate.
02 · Pairing four census measures
Entities and workers answer different questions.
Urumqi Fifth National Economic Census Bulletin No. 3 records two pairs at the end of 2023: 150 industrial enterprise legal units and 3,068 workers in agricultural and sideline-food processing, plus 190 legal units and 7,886 workers in food manufacturing.
Legal-unit counts answer an entity-scale question, while worker counts answer an employment-scale question, so the measures cannot be directly added or subtracted.
Any later comparison should preserve the two industries and the two measurement types.
- Comparisons work only within matching industries.
03 · Midong slaughter-processing clues
Regulation identifies a named operator.
The economic census bulletin supplies end-2023 citywide observations for legal units and employment in agricultural and sideline-food processing.
Inclusion in a legally mandated environmental-disclosure list identifies a disclosure subject and administrative setting for that year.
The Midong classification gives the city total a concrete example without representing other districts.
- One district firm cannot define the whole city.
04 · Instant noodles and growth measures
Census stock differs from a growth rate.
The census records 190 industrial enterprise legal units and 7,886 workers in food manufacturing at the end of 2023.
The 22.1 percent figure is year-on-year growth in above-scale food-manufacturing value added, not a company count, output, operating revenue, or market size.
Environmental classification and the Yingbin Road fire record together locate Xinjiang President within the manufacturing branch.
- The 22.1 figure concerns above-scale value added.
05 · A beverage plant on the green list
List status belongs to a specific year.
Master Kong (Urumqi) Beverage Co., Ltd. appears under Urumqi as a regional-level green factory in the Xinjiang industry authority list for 2024. That status locates the plant within the green-manufacturing programme for that year, but it does not certify every beverage or replace food-quality controls. A business discussion still returns to the exact plant, licensed products and current operating condition.
Green-factory status is a formal 2024 list outcome, not food-safety certification, certification of all products, or permanent green status.
Company name, development-zone location and list year together define this green-manufacturing status.
- Green-factory status is not product certification.
06 · Four districts, four boundaries
A filed review is not commissioning.
The environmental list places Heshengyuan in Midong, Xinjiang President Enterprises in the High-tech Zone, and Master Kong Beverage in the Economic Development Zone.
Acceptance of environmental-impact documents means that project files entered a public acceptance process.
Midong, High-tech Zone, Economic Development Zone and Shuimogou projects remain separate rather than one imagined park.
- Place and project stage must be read together.
07 · Three firms in distinct roles
Slaughter, noodles and beverages form separate lines.
Environmental disclosure places Urumqi Heshengyuan Food in Midong’s livestock-slaughter category.
Xinjiang President Enterprises Food appears in High-tech Zone environmental and fire-safety records.
Master Kong Urumqi Beverage connects beverage manufacturing in the Economic Development Zone with 2024 green-factory status.
- Public lists identify firms, not partnerships.
08 · Plan visits by product line
Begin with products, then permits and sites.
A practical route can separate Midong slaughtering, High-tech Zone noodles and Economic Development Zone beverages.
Shared geography does not erase differences in district regulation or reporting year.
Slaughter, instant-noodle and beverage plants need separate visit checklists because their materials, temperature controls, equipment and licences differ. Their locations are Midong, the High-tech Zone and the Economic Development Zone respectively; before arrival, confirm legal entity, production address, active products and food-production licence. On site, follow material lots, critical steps and cooling or sanitation records, and check current green-factory, fire-safety and environmental status separately.
- Current operations still require direct confirmation.
