Tianchang smart instruments
A stable number on an instrument is not necessarily the process in the pipe. A blocked tapping, liquid in an impulse line, ambient temperature, range configuration and compensation can move measurement quietly away from reality. Tianchang’s value lies in connecting sensing, installation, calibration, communication and periodic checks into an explainable measurement chain.
Formation and regional foundations
Tianchang developed a tier of process-instrument and measurement-control firms, with planning and industry sources spanning temperature, pressure, flow, level and integration. The boundary remains evidenced instruments and control services, not cable, medical devices or all smart equipment, and regional market share does not become one model’s accuracy.
A pressure transmitter can hold a stable output while its impulse line fills with liquid; a calibrated temperature sensor can still lag inside a thermowell. Flow and level add velocity profile, dielectric constant, foam and density. An instrument explains a number only by joining process interface, sensing element, compensation, communication and maintenance state.

Six responsibility points for a process quantity
Whether bias belongs to medium, installation, sensing or algorithm
A tag connects process interface, instrument serial, range, parameters and calibration. Information handovers do not indicate an unverified fixed purchase among firms.
- Medium and process interface — Heat, pressure, phase, pulsation, corrosion and location define the measurand.
- Sensor and process path — Diaphragm, thermocouple, impulse line or antenna brings the process into the instrument.
- Transmission, compensation and range — Amplification, compensation, linearisation, damping and unit form the output.
- Communication and control system — Analogue, bus, diagnostics, clock and configuration enter control logic.
- Reference and uncertainty — Reference, environment, connection and processing support calibration.
- Field check and maintenance — Drift, plugging, vibration and corrosion follow the tag history.
01 · State the measurement principle before discussing decimals
Medium properties and sensing mechanism decide the actual response.
Temperature, pressure, flow and level can use different physical principles, while one process term may mean gauge, absolute, mass flow, volume flow or interface position. Tianchang sources establish several instrument types and firms, not one accuracy for every model. Selection first states medium, phase, purpose and the actual controlled quantity. Reference conditions must be stated.
Radar level sees different echoes from foam, vapour and low-dielectric media, while differential level depends on density. A thermocouple measures a relation between measuring and reference junctions, not an isolated temperature. Comparing display decimals mixes principle error, process variation and resolution. Old parameters on a changed medium can create a stably wrong value.
The tag sheet states principle, composition, phase, pressure and temperature range, normal and alarm points, response and connection. Candidate instruments first pass principle fitness before range, material, output and maintenance comparison. Measurements dependent on density, dielectric or reference junction carry compensation variables and sources and are recalculated after medium change.
- Every value carries its measurand and compensation conditions.
02 · A liquid column in an impulse line can answer for the process
Tapping, line slope and insertion depth alter the measurand.
Pressure and differential instruments meet the process through taps, manifolds and impulse lines; temperature elements sit in thermowells, and flowmeters depend on upstream and downstream profile. Laboratory calibration covers sensor and reference connection, while field readings include installation. Manufacturing becomes tag capability only with tapping, drains, tracing and orientation. A height difference between impulse lines becomes differential-pressure zero shift, so manifold direction and drain position must be checked on site against actual flow.
Low-point liquid in gas service adds head, while high-point gas in liquid service slows response; unequal impulse-line temperatures create differential bias. A shallow thermowell reads wall heat, while excessive insertion raises vibration and fatigue risk. A control-room zero adjustment can hide installation trouble inside electronic compensation.
Installation review sets tapping direction, manifold, bore, slope, drains, vents, tracing and support from the medium, while temperature and flow tags check insertion and straight run. Commissioning performs leakage, continuity, flushing and zero checks with valve state recorded. A field bias first examines installation and process before trimming or return.
- Installation drawing and instrument parameters form one tag revision.
03 · When range widens, resolution and noise do not stay still
Normal, alarm and safety points determine range together.
A transmitter may be ranged within limits, while sensor upper and lower bounds, resolution, noise and temperature effects remain. If normal operation uses little span, a steady display does not mean small changes are resolved; an overly narrow span saturates during start, stop or cleaning. Selection covers normal control, alarms and abnormal pressure together. Alarm setpoints receive separate check points.
Selecting full scale from maximum design pressure can bury normal changes in noise. Narrowing span for resolution causes pulsation peaks to overrange. A stated turndown under reference accuracy is not performance at every temperature and static pressure. Different engineering units between instrument and control can turn correct current into a wrong process value.
The range sheet lists normal, start, stop, cleaning, alarm and design edges, choosing usable resolution with overload margin. Calibration covers the working band and critical alarms, not only zero and full scale. After configuration, an independent signal reconciles local display, analogue output and control-system units, and unit or damping changes enter the record.
- Turndown is used only under stated accuracy and conditions.
04 · When ambient temperature changes, compensation needs its own thermometer
Sensor, electronics and installation carry different temperature drift.
Sensor zero and sensitivity change with temperature, as do amplifiers and references; process heat can also move through impulse lines or thermowells. Smart instruments use temperature sensing and algorithms, but the curve belongs to a structure and component set. Tianchang’s smart direction does not give every model identical error across all environments. Temperature-change rate is recorded as well.
Uniform chamber heating differs from field gradients caused by sun and insulation, and an internal sensor may miss local heat at terminal or diaphragm. A fit at discrete points can bend between them; during fast change, sensor and temperature probe lag differently and create transient error. Steady maximum error misses that interval.
Temperature tests cover upper, lower and critical intermediate points in heating and cooling, recording internal temperature, output, settling and transient. Coefficients remain with sensor lot, board and software checksum and are reconfirmed after repair. Field shading, insulation or tracing changes trigger gradient and heat-path checks instead of ever larger electronic correction.
- The compensation curve binds to sensor lot and software revision.
05 · A calibration error needs its reference chain to be interpreted
Reference, connection, environment and repeatability form uncertainty.
Calibration compares indication with a traceable reference and is affected by standard, pressure or thermal connection, environment, settling, resolution and repeatability. A small error does not imply small uncertainty, and extra decimals add nothing when reference capability is weak. Public standards set a framework, while a certificate still belongs to model, serial and range. Connection leakage is ruled out first.
An upward run does not reveal return hysteresis, and one repeated reading cannot estimate short-term scatter. Leakage in a connection or changing ambient temperature may also be mistaken for instrument error. Near a tolerance boundary, the decision rule should be fixed before the test and uncertainty recorded; otherwise the same data may produce opposite conclusions under different rules. Certificates cannot be compared directly for drift when the range, unit or test points changed after repair.
The procedure defines reference capability, connection, warm-up, stability, up-down points and repeats, retaining raw and corrected readings. The uncertainty budget covers major contributors and a prior decision rule handles results near tolerance. Certificates list serial, range, unit, parameters and environment, preserving as-found data before adjustment.
- A calibration conclusion stays within the reference and method capability.
06 · Successful communication proves arrival, not an unchanged value
Unit, damping, diagnostics, clock and control logic interpret a message.
A smart transmitter can send analogue or digital process value, status, diagnostics and parameters. Even after a valid message arrives, unit, range, byte order or scaling can give the control system a wrong engineering value; damping and update rate alter trends. Tianchang integration therefore verifies instrument and control as one chain. The control system retains the parameter revision.
A device can appear online while ignored diagnostics let a bad value continue into control or trips. Unsynchronised clocks obscure event order. A remote range change without two-way confirmation splits the field label from configuration. More damping smooths a curve but may delay a real rapid pressure or level change.
Loop commissioning applies known inputs and reconciles local display, analogue or digital output, control value, alarms and faults, including overrange, broken line and sensor failure. Parameter changes require authority, revision and readback, updating tag range and unit. Network time and event order are checked, and diagnostics lead to defined control and maintenance actions.
- Local and control-system values reconcile at boundary states.
07 · A field drift first checks the process interface, not the zero screw
Plugging, corrosion, vibration and environment can imitate sensor drift.
In service, instruments face deposits, corrosion, pulsation, vibration, thermal cycles and electrical interference. Bias can arise from the sensor, process interface or process itself. Laboratory long-term stability under reference conditions does not set the field interval. Maintenance compares redundant tags, process balances and history. Installation state remains explicit.
Trimming a zero immediately erases evidence of liquid in an impulse line or fouling on a diaphragm. Recovery after cleaning still requires the deposit’s process cause. Vibration-induced intermittent contact can vanish during shutdown calibration. Fixed annual replacement may over-maintain some tags and leave high-risk ones wrong within the interval.
Field checks first retain display, output, parameters, valve position and process, then inspect leaks, plugs, drains, vents, wiring and vibration before applying a portable reference. Cleaning, repair, trim or replacement effects remain separate. Intervals follow drift history, process risk and environment, with high-risk trips receiving online diagnostics or cross-checks.
- As-found data remain before cleaning or adjustment.
08 · Periodic verification is not every tag on the same day
Risk, drift history and maintainability set the verification rhythm.
Tags differ in safety, quality, energy and custody impact, so calibration or verification intervals consider use, regulation, drift and online checking. Tianchang reports and review confirm an active cluster, but regional output, product range and market figures do not set an interval for every model. Company products also separate instruments from unrelated group business. The basis for the interval is updated as evidence accumulates.
One interval over-services stable low-risk devices and leaves drifting critical tags too long; removal itself can add leaks and wiring errors. A new product, transferred line or promoted project without entity, address and state checks likewise turns future or group capability into current Tianchang supply. Calibration histories and industry facts both require time boundaries.
Tag classes combine consequence, drift, environment, redundancy and diagnostics, extending or shortening initial intervals as evidence grows and retaining as-found and as-left results. The enterprise list verifies entity, Tianchang site, actual instrument product and public date, keeping regional figures in scope. New projects enter present capability only after reaching the stated construction and product state.
- Tag status and company product facts both update by date.
Sources and reading notes
Accuracy, range and stability carry principle, reference condition, installation and uncertainty. Laboratory results remain distinct from field behaviour. Company products follow legal entity, Tianchang location and evidenced model direction; cable or unrelated group business does not move into instrument capability.
- The national list confirms Tianchang smart instruments, not the city’s cable, medical-device or entire equipment industries.
- Regional industry figures and one instrument’s range, accuracy and stability are different measures and cannot replace one another.
- Public standards and enterprise participation exist for products such as level transmitters, while model conformity still needs its actual tests and declaration.
- Laboratory calibration and field installation face different pulsation, heat, vibration and media, so accuracy appears with service conditions.
