Hangzhou Lin'an smart-forklift components
The Lin’an smart-forklift chain can be read through one vehicle: a battery supplies power, a transmission carries torque, hydraulic cylinders lift the forks, and braking plus perception protects mixed pedestrian traffic. Component value is judged in vehicle duty.
Formation and regional foundations
Hangcha and nearby component firms keep prototyping, assembly and logistics trials close. Electrification changes thermal and endurance priorities, while automation places localisation, scheduling, emergency stops and mechanical reliability in one acceptance process.
A forklift appears to pick, lift and move a pallet, yet each step connects load centre, battery, transmission, hydraulics, braking and localisation. One pallet cycle puts Lin’an vehicles, cylinders and transmission parts under the same duty without merging their responsibilities.
Core geography: An equipment zone across Lin'an and Qingshan Lake Science City linking new-energy forklifts, hydraulic actuators, transmissions and in-plant automation
Five force and information nodes in a pallet mission
What happens as load travels from forks to wheels
The diagram follows a work cycle rather than company geography. Arrows show duty constraints, not supply contracts.
- Pallet and load centre — Mass, size and eccentricity set the starting load on the mast.
- Mast hydraulic circuit — Cylinders, valves and pumps turn pressure into lift and tilt.
- Battery and driveline — Battery, motor, transmission and differential create traction together.
- Localisation and scheduling — Maps, missions and pedestrian avoidance determine automated routes.
- Vehicle duty-cycle test — Grades, turns, braking and lift cycles expose component coupling.
01 · The first centimetre of lift already affects stability
Beyond mass, load centre and eccentricity change the vehicle boundary.
A forklift rating corresponds to a defined load centre and mast condition. Longer loads move the centre forward and raise moment on the front axle and mast. Even below nameplate mass, eccentricity, attachment weight and lift height reduce stability margin, so pallet geometry and centre of gravity belong in selection. Forward mast tilt also requires a separate check of remaining front-wheel load. Nameplate conditions are compared with the actual load centre, not only rated tonnage.
Buying only by tonnage treats different masts, attachments and aisle turns as one duty. During elevated turning, side movement on a grade or an emergency stop, dynamic load shifts the centre further. Automation does not remove these mechanical rules and must reserve stability margin in path planning. Attachment mass is deducted from payload rather than counted twice as capacity. The same pallet creates a different stability margin when elevated or turning.
Site survey records maximum load envelope, centre range, lift height, floor grade, aisle width and tightest turn. Create separate combinations for eccentric loads and attachments, then verify mast deflection, tyre contact and stopping distance at low speed. Tasks outside the approved table should not be dispatched automatically. Survey results enter scheduling master data to avoid a second manually entered geometry. The survey also marks the tightest passing point and worst ramp for trial reproduction.
- Load centre changes capacity
- Automation still obeys stability
- Combination duty limits dispatch
02 · Battery capacity is not a standalone endurance answer
Lift, traction, waiting and temperature jointly define a shift.
A new-energy forklift consumes traction and hydraulic energy in the same mission. Frequent lift, grades and rapid reversing change current peaks. Nameplate battery capacity is specified at defined temperature and rate and cannot be translated directly into hours for every warehouse. Charging windows and battery thermal state matter as well. Hydraulic energy can exceed traction demand during frequent high lifts. When cold weather, battery ageing and hydraulic peaks coincide, short-term power matters more than nominal capacity.
Fleet planning based only on average energy can miss peaks and charging queues when missions cluster. A vehicle may still drive at low charge but fail to maintain lift speed as voltage falls. If scheduling cannot see this power limit, it assigns an impossible high-lift task during the busiest period. Queueing at one charger also amplifies energy imbalance among vehicles. Charger count is calculated for the busiest shift with a route around one failed charger.
During trials, replay a real shift and meter travel, lift, idle, communications and cab-conditioning energy separately, then repeat at high and low temperature. Send both state of charge and available power to scheduling, set return thresholds and emergency reserve, and simulate one charger being unavailable. Emergency reserve is defined by mission and cannot be consumed by ordinary scheduling. Task replay retains driver waits and traffic avoidance because auxiliary energy continues during them.
- Traction and lift share energy
- Low charge limits available power
- Scheduling receives charge and power
03 · Reversing shock is written into gear teeth
Ratios, differential and control strategy share frequent reversals.
Hangzhou Okamura Transmission focuses on forklift transmissions and differentials that carry engine or motor torque to the wheels. Forklift duty is not long steady travel but short acceleration, braking and repeated reversal. Gears, bearings and lubricant therefore face dense shocks and thermal cycles. Oil sampling can reveal abnormal wear debris and tooth fatigue early. Gear-tooth load during reversal also depends on tyre grip and cargo inertia, not bench torque alone.
Electric drives respond quickly, and an aggressive torque command for cycle time places avoidable shock on the mechanical driveline. Strengthening gears without changing the torque ramp can move failure to shafts, tyres or load stability. Component design and vehicle control cannot be optimised independently. Torque-ramp changes are also reviewed by braking and stability teams. A control ramp that reduces shock must still prevent rollback during a hill start.
An endurance spectrum should extract reversal count, grade-start torque, loaded turns and braking events from real missions for both bench and vehicle tests. Check oil temperature, tooth damage, backlash and noise at intervals. After a control update, verify peak torque again so new parameters do not invalidate hardware testing. Duty-cycle versions bind to software versions and preserve every change. Teardown compares tooth contact, oil particles and bearing condition on one timeline.
- Short cycles shock the driveline
- Software can amplify mechanical load
- Duty spectra connect bench and vehicle
04 · A cylinder must lift the load and hold it still
Stroke, sealing and side load matter more than appearance.
Zhejiang Huachang Hydraulic lists forklift lift, tilt and steering cylinders, each with different pressure cycles and side loads. Mast-roller clearance, mounting alignment and fluid cleanliness affect seal life. A cylinder can show no external leak yet allow slow fork drift through internal leakage. Cold seal friction can delay unloaded motion without a controller fault. Side load creates seal and guide wear, so tilt cylinders need posture-specific review.
Measuring a worn cylinder to make a replacement can reproduce the wrong dimensions and omit original force and speed requirements. A larger bore adds force but changes pump flow, lift speed and energy use. A harder seal may resist pressure but add friction at low temperature or speed. Each change reaches the vehicle. Mast-guide wear is investigated together with cylinder side loading. Drift testing separates valve leakage, cylinder leakage and hose expansion.
A cylinder specification states installation length, effective stroke, pressure-time history, permitted drift, fluid, temperature and side load. After bench endurance, fit the sample to a vehicle and measure synchronisation, tilt and holding across loads. Teardown inspection of seals and rod surface gives more life evidence than endpoint motion alone. Teardown photos mark orientation and location for comparison with the next lot. Contamination samples are taken before and after filter changes to locate particle origin.
- Internal leakage causes drift
- Cylinder changes reach the vehicle
- Bench tests are followed by vehicle teardown
05 · Perception protects the human-vehicle boundary
Beyond localisation accuracy, occlusion and stopping govern site entry.
Automated forklifts combine localisation, obstacle detection, scheduling and safety control. Rack posts, reflective film, stretch wrap and crossings create occlusion or false targets, while people can emerge from behind pallets. Accuracy from one sensor in an open test area does not represent the operating site. Floor dust and reflectivity are tested before and after cleaning. Safety-sensor blind zones are checked at fork heights, during turns and against glare.
A shortest-path planner can repeatedly send vehicles into congested or poorly visible crossings. Safety slowdown reduces instantaneous cycle speed but may improve shift output by reducing emergency stops and manual clearing. Automation should be judged by the stable distribution of completed missions, not the fastest unobstructed run. Slow-zone boundaries update with rack and pallet locations. Temporary storage and pedestrian shortcuts change the map, so a static acceptance image is not the long-term site.
Before deployment, map occlusion using people flow and pallet positions at different times and measure loaded plus unloaded stopping distance at each high-risk crossing. Testers emerge from blind zones by script to verify detection, slowdown, stop and recovery. Every manual bypass enters scheduling data for later route improvement. Bypass and false-detection records stay separate to avoid training the wrong scheduling rule. Each avoidance run also checks stopping distance and rear swing rather than only successful passage.
- Warehouse occlusion creates blind zones
- Shortest path is not stable output
- Blind-zone scripts test the full stopping chain
06 · Scheduling can create mechanical wear
Mission allocation changes starts, charging and component load distribution.
Hangcha automation and new-energy forklift projects connect vehicles to in-plant logistics. Scheduling chooses vehicle, route and charging time. If the nearest vehicle repeatedly receives heavy grade tasks, certain drivelines, tyres and cylinders accumulate fatigue faster. Average fleet mileage hides this unequal duty. Maintenance mileage cannot replace heavy-duty count; both are retained. A dispatch policy that repeatedly selects one truck concentrates battery and tyre wear.
Optimising only order wait time can create frequent empty returns, clustered charging and repeated reversals at one location. Maintenance then sees scattered failures without linking them to mission strategy. Scheduling data should include load, grade, lift count and emergency stops, not only origin, destination and duration. After scheduling changes, component-temperature distributions are compared over equal periods. Queues distinguish stock, traffic and charging delays so the real cycle constraint is visible.
Create cumulative equivalent-duty indicators for each vehicle, weighting heavy lift, grades, emergency stops and deep discharge differently. Scheduling balances these while serving orders, and maintenance plans inspections from actual burden. After component replacement, observe whether failure rate changes with mission allocation. Equivalent duty triggers maintenance thresholds while retaining human review. Weekly equivalent-duty review can reveal a route that is creating abnormal wear.
- Mission strategy allocates fatigue
- Average mileage hides heavy duty
- Equivalent duty enters scheduling
07 · A vehicle duty cycle puts hydraulics, transmission and the truck in one test
Vehicle, cylinder and transmission own different parts of one exception.
Hangcha supplies vehicles and automation, Huachang Hydraulic handles lift and steering cylinders, and Hangzhou Okamura makes transmission and differential components. Their entities and products differ, yet one loaded grade-and-lift mission creates data for all. Cluster collaboration is better read through a common duty cycle than a company list. All parties approve the load and floor conditions of the common duty cycle. The joint duty cycle binds vehicle signals to component serials so exceptions do not disappear between firms.
A weak vehicle can result from battery power limit, driveline heat, hydraulic relief or a wrong mission. If the vehicle maker returns only a fault code and component suppliers rely on bench certificates, responsibility stops at the interface. Common time-aligned data reveals the order of torque, pressure, speed and lift commands. Diagnostic packages contain raw values, not only filtered trend charts. Root-cause review uses the same log interval so electrical, hydraulic and drive teams share one clock.
A joint test protocol defines name, unit, sampling rate and owner for each signal and who exports it after a fault. Each company receives only fields needed for diagnosis while commercial data remains separated. After reproduction, the same duty cycle verifies the fix instead of declaring success on a lighter task. Retest repetitions match the original fault probability rather than one run. The original duty cycle is rerun after replacement to separate repair effect from driver variation.
- Three interfaces meet in one duty cycle
- Time alignment separates causes
- The original duty retests the fix
08 · Acceptance should reach the next maintenance cycle
Spares, parameters and site capability decide long-term operation.
A smart-forklift delivery includes vehicles, maps, mission interfaces, charging, spares, maintenance tools and software versions. Components can pass initial acceptance, yet tyre wear, mast clearance and battery ageing later invalidate localisation or control parameters. Recalibration after maintenance belongs to system operation. Map backups also record reflectors, codes and base-station locations. Map frame, exclusion zones and revision date are frozen with the vehicle software.
An after-sales promise of response time without isolation, towing and recovery steps can leave one stopped vehicle blocking an aisle. Critical spares cannot be selected by price alone. Whether a controller, cylinder or transmission replacement needs software parameters and special tools determines actual repair time. Incoming spares are checked for firmware and mechanical revision before stocking. Night-shift staff physically practise towing points, isolators and manual release.
Final acceptance introduces a simulated fault and has site staff replace the specified component, restore parameters, complete safety checks, and return the forklift to its original mission while the supplier observes without taking over. Elapsed time, missed steps, and absent tools determine the spare list, training scope, and software-upgrade rules. Repeating the same duty after one maintenance interval confirms that the initial settings were not sustained by excessive compensation.
- Maintenance requires recalibration
- Tools and parameters shape repair time
- A simulated fault tests site capability
