Guangde printed circuit boards
Impedance shift, barrel cracking and conductive anodic filament are different failures. A credible review links laminate lot, inner pattern, stack-up and lamination, drilling, desmear, copper deposition and plating, solder mask, electrical test and reliability to one production lot.
Formation and regional foundations
Guangde extended PCB manufacturing toward glass fibre, laminate, connectors and IC substrates, creating adjacent material, processing, test and environmental infrastructure. Concentration shortens supply and wastewater distance, while board capability, customer approval and reliability remain entity- and line-specific.
The Guangde review retains evidence through laminate, inner imaging, lamination, drilling and metallisation, outer and mask, finish, electrical and reliability. Cluster scale describes context; stack, process and lot tests carry board capability.
Core geography: The boundary follows Guangde Economic Development Zone and local electronics plants, covering glass cloth and copper-clad laminate, multilayer rigid, flexible or rigid-flex, high-frequency and high-speed PCB, IC substrates, and directly related drilling, copper deposition, plating, solder mask and electrical test. Terminal assembly, generic copper work and electronics projects without PCB evidence are excluded.
PCB network from laminate to reliability
Six nodes across material, image, lamination, via, finish and test
Board types share a basic flow, not stacks or reliability conclusions.
- Laminate and stack-up — Material system, copper, cores and prepreg enter by lot.
- Inner imaging and etch — Line, registration and copper cleanliness form inner patterns.
- Oxide, lay-up and lamination — Layer order, resin flow, press curve and warp are controlled.
- Drill, copper deposition and plating — Hole wall, desmear, seed and copper connect layers.
- Outer layer, mask and finish — Outer image, mask opening and finish follow board type.
- Electrical test, reliability and trace — Continuity, impedance, section and environment bind to lot.
01 · Start with the board and the failure
The same layer count can hide different material windows.
Automotive control, RF, flexible and IC substrate differ in dielectric, copper, via, impedance and cleanliness. Review first fixes part number, stack revision and environment.
Impedance shift can come from dielectric, line or copper roughness; barrel cracking involves drilling, desmear and plating; ion migration adds cleanliness and humidity. One electrical yield cannot cover all three.
The Guangde cluster covers material, PCB and adjacent supply, but park reporting does not prove fixed supplier links. Company samples only illustrate manufacturing routes.
02 · Laminate lot sets the starting electrical window
A material name cannot replace dielectric and thermal properties.
Incoming checks resin, glass style, foil, copper, dielectric thickness, transition and decomposition, with storage and opening time.
High-frequency boards add dielectric constant, loss and copper roughness; experience from ordinary FR material does not transfer. A lot change requires actual-stack impedance and insertion loss.
Cores and prepreg issue by layer and shelf life; wet material may delaminate in lamination or reflow. Baking is used only when the specification permits.
03 · Inner imaging starts with clean copper
Exposure, registration and etch jointly define lines.
Preparation removes oxide and contamination and sets roughness; dry-film lamination records temperature, pressure and speed. Bubbles or particles become opens or notches.
Exposure, focus, registration and develop follow tool and density; etch factor and copper control foot and undercut. Surface line width alone does not represent cross-section.
Inner AOI separates true defects from false calls and retains repair rules. Critical nets are not casually repaired to raise yield; images and disposition remain traceable.
04 · Lamination makes layers inseparable
A wrong layer order cannot be repaired later.
Lay-up checks cores, prepreg, foil, order, direction and tooling; barcode proofing still needs human review for special stacks. Oxide or alternative treatment supports bonding.
The press curve records vacuum, ramp, pressure, resin flow and cooling; edge and centre may see different thermal histories. Thermocouple validation covers representative points.
After lamination, thickness, warp, layer shift and void are checked, with section or ultrasound by board type. Flat appearance does not prove resin fill.
05 · A via passes drilling and metallisation
Accurate position does not prove a reliable wall.
Tool life, speed, feed, stack and entry-backup affect diameter, burr, nail-head and wall roughness. Broken tool or redrill returns to specific holes for assessment.
Desmear removes resin smear and activates copper, while over-treatment attacks resin and glass. Bath, time and microetch are lot-recorded.
Electroless copper creates a continuous seed, plating builds barrel and surface copper. Sections examine thinnest point, nodules, voids and inner connection rather than average thickness.
06 · Outer, mask and finish have distinct registration
The final green coat cannot hide earlier circuit defects.
Outer image and pattern plating control line, space and copper, followed by AOI after strip-etch. Residual or overetch can change impedance.
Solder-mask lot, viscosity, tack dry, exposure, develop and cure determine opening and adhesion; bridging or offset affects soldering. Colour is one visual attribute.
ENIG, HASL or another finish follows solder, contact and storage needs, with thickness and solderability tested. A process name does not replace shelf-life evidence.
07 · Electrical test answers the programmed network
Continuity and isolation do not prove long-term reliability.
Flying-probe or fixture test controls netlist, programme, open-short threshold and contact, with full retest after repair. An untested net does not appear in pass rate.
Controlled impedance is interpreted with actual line, dielectric thickness and properties; coupons represent production. Edge-only coupons may miss centre lamination differences.
Thermal shock, reflow, humidity insulation, ionic contamination and barrel sections follow board and use. Cycles passed by one automotive board do not transfer to RF or IC substrate.
08 · A vertical chain does not let evidence transfer
Material, board and application retain responsibility.
MTL, Yangsheng and Wanzheng are Guangde PCB samples that show multilayer routes, not shared customers, processes or capacity.
RMB 8.9 billion, 92 firms, 43 diagnostics and 34 transitions are regional output, counts and participation, not plant capacity or yield.
Real coordination traces laminate lot, stack, barrel section and customer return, rather than turning a cluster scale into a board guarantee.
