Fuqing chemical composites

Film gauge variation, declining tape peel and outdoor-membrane cracking are different failures. A sound review binds resin melt flow, extrusion filtration, biaxial stretch, surface treatment, adhesive coating, cure, slitting and application tests to one roll.

Formation and regional foundations

Fuqing extended polypropylene and chemical feed toward biaxially oriented film, adhesive tape, coated laminates and functional material, linking Jiangyin feedstock and Rongqiao conversion. Shorter logistics do not prove that every roll uses one fixed supplier.

The Fuqing review retains evidence through resin, extrusion and casting, biaxial stretch, surface treatment, coating and lamination, curing and slitting, and application tests. The park chain describes context; formulation, equipment, process and lot tests carry roll performance.

Core geography: The boundary covers Rongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Jiangyin Port City Economic Zone and material plants with production evidence. It includes polypropylene film, specialist tape, coated and laminated functional membranes, high-performance fibre and chemical composites. Basic petrochemical feed, generic building material, metal alloy and signed projects without material-processing evidence are excluded.

Material network from resin to application test

Six nodes across resin, casting, stretch, coating, cure and test

Products may share base processes, not formulations or weathering conclusions.

  • Resin and additives — Melt flow, cleanliness, additives and lot enter compounding.
  • Extrude, filter and cast — Temperature, pressure, filtration and cast-sheet gauge are controlled.
  • Biaxial stretch and set — Stretch ratio, heat and clips govern width and properties.
  • Treat, coat and laminate — Surface energy, adhesive mix, coat weight and bond are roll-recorded.
  • Cure and slit — Climate, time, knives and winding affect finished stability.
  • Barrier, peel and weathering — Gauge, barrier, peel, migration and ageing bind to roll identity.

01 · Start by separating three failures

Gauge spread, peel loss and ageing crack need different evidence.

BOPP gauge variation leads to resin rheology, die, casting and stretch heat; declining tape peel adds surface energy, adhesive mix, coat weight and cure.

Outdoor-membrane cracking also involves stabilisers, substrate, coat thickness, flex and ultraviolet humidity. One room-temperature tensile pass does not establish weathering life.

Review first fixes structure, use, roll and failure position before sampling. Calling all three composite-quality variation erases process responsibility.

02 · A resin lot is more than a trade name

Melt flow, distribution and additives set the window.

Resin receipt retains grade, lot, melt flow, ash and contamination; masterbatch also records carrier and active content. Supplier name alone cannot explain extrusion-pressure drift.

Reworked edge trim has separate records for ratio, heat history and cleanliness. Overheated or mixed regrind can introduce gel and specks to cast sheet.

Nearby polypropylene and film conversion is a regional advantage, not proof of a fixed supply relationship. Purchase and incoming reports establish each resin lot.

03 · Extrusion and casting set the defect map

Filter pressure and die zones stay with the roll.

Extruder zones, screw load, melt pressure and filter changes form a time series. A gel spike first points to pressure and screen changes, not automatically stretching.

Cross-die heat, lip gap, cast-sheet gauge and chill roll form the base cross-width profile. Defect coordinates should trace from finished roll to cast sheet.

Coextruded film separately records core and skin recipes, flows and layer ratios. Passing total gauge does not prove every functional layer is in specification.

04 · Biaxial stretch amplifies small variation

Speed, heat and clip condition shape properties together.

Machine- and transverse-direction ratios, preheat and set temperature govern orientation, shrinkage and directional mechanics. Average gauge misses edge-centre variation.

Clip wear, rail condition and break time correspond to roll identity. Splices and transition sections after a stop are isolated.

Post-set shrinkage, haze, gloss and tensile do not substitute for one another. Packaging, tape base and coating substrate use different combinations.

05 · Surface treatment decides whether adhesive holds

Corona level decays, so test timing matters.

Corona power, speed, treated side and surface energy are recorded at production and retested after storage. A fresh value can overstate wetting weeks later.

Adhesive records include base, hardener, solvent, viscosity, pot life and climate. Peel loss distinguishes low coat, under-cure, contamination and polymer ageing.

Cross-web coat profile, oven zones, residual solvent and lamination tension jointly explain bubbles, tunnelling and edge lift. One coat point cannot represent the web.

06 · Cure and slitting change final performance

Adhesive reaction and winding stress need time coordinates.

Cure-room climate, entry and exit, coil position and peel sampling follow each roll. Early release can show initial tack yet decay in transport or use.

Knife wear, overlap, taper tension and diameter affect burr, debris and roll face. Knife changes trace to finished reels.

Visual sampling does not replace unwind tests. Wide membrane also needs crease, core mark and post-transport dimensional checks so packaging damage is not misread as ageing.

07 · Application tests must match real use

One peel number cannot cover barrier, migration and weathering.

Packaging film separately tests barrier, seal, friction and migration; tape uses tack, holding power, peel and ageing; outdoor laminate adds ultraviolet, humidity, flex and seam tests.

Reports state construction, direction, conditioning, speed and failure mode. An average without break location cannot distinguish cohesive from interface failure.

Returns reconcile mother roll, slit reel and retained sample. An ageing result does not transfer to a different gauge, colour or additive system.

08 · The regional chain does not warrant a roll

Producer samples show routes, not transferable quality conclusions.

Furong, Sijia and Youyi illustrate film, functional composite and adhesive-tape routes. Co-location does not prove shared resin, customers, capacity or approval.

Thirteen lines, eighteen lines, 800,000 tonnes and more than 100 markets belong to different entities and dates. They are neither current cluster capacity nor per-line averages.

Real coordination traces resin lot, masterbatch, cast sheet, stretch section, adhesive batch, cured roll and return while preserving each entity’s product responsibility.

Sources and reading notes

MIIT, Fujian industry authorities and provincial and municipal sources establish national identity, boundaries, producers and dated figures. Planning, construction, operation and expansion remain separate. Co-location does not infer fixed supply.

  • The MIIT list confirms the national formal name of Fuqing’s chemical-composite cluster.
  • Fujian industry material records 13 BOPP film lines built by Youyi in Fuqing.
  • Fuqing government material records the eighteenth Furong film line entering operation in 2024.
  • Published reporting states that Sijia functional materials reach more than 100 countries and regions.
