Fuping goat dairy products
The hardest part of Fuping’s goat-dairy chain is not the headline herd count but whether a tanker of raw milk reaches the plant with farm identity, milking time, cooling curve, collection tests and seal intact. Adult formulated powder, whole goat milk powder, liquid milk and infant formula follow different product routes; neither ingredients nor labels are interchangeable.
Formation and regional foundations
Fuping’s long-standing dairy-goat and processing base gradually brought scale farms, collection stations, processors and a national quality-testing platform together within the county. Park figures describe the industrial foundation, while each company’s milk source, licence, recipe registrations, capacity and current products still require separate verification.
When a tanker reaches the plant in the morning, purchased volume is the easiest number to read. Unloading actually depends on the temperature curve, collection tests, farm identity, seal and retest; inside the plant, liquid milk, powder and infant formula then take separate paths. The account follows that tanker’s lot identity.
Core geography: Centred on Fuping County’s dairy-goat farms and processing parks, linking breeding, forage and veterinary care, mechanical milking, collection acceptance, refrigerated transport, liquid goat milk, concentration and spray drying, formula blending, canning and quality testing
From farm to sealed package
Six identity handoffs for a goat-milk lot
Nodes show handoffs of material identity, temperature, recipe and release responsibility; the exact route splits for liquid milk, powder and infant formula.
- Farm and milking lot — Herd, lactation stage, medicine withdrawal and milking time form raw-milk identity.
- Collection acceptance and rapid cooling — Temperature, sensory, composition, inhibitor and microbial results decide unloading.
- Tanker cold chain and plant retest — Tank, seal, route, time and temperature curve travel with the milk.
- Standardisation and heat treatment — Separation, homogenisation and heating follow the liquid or powder route.
- Concentration, drying or fermentation — Powder moisture, heat load and solubility, or fermentation end point, are controlled separately.
- Formula, packing and batch release — Recipe identity, package integrity, test results and trace code jointly determine release.
01 · A pail of milk begins with herd identity
Breed is only the start; days in milk and husbandry records enter that day’s supply.
Breed, parity, lactation stage and health alter both yield and composition. Farms connect kidding, grouping, illness and culling records to identifiable animals or management groups instead of guessing after milk reaches the plant.
Forage lot, concentrate recipe, water and mycotoxin risk affect intake and milk quality together. A feed change is recorded by date, supply lot and herd response so a sudden shift in fat, protein or flavour can be explained.
Veterinary treatment records the medicine, animal, dose, course and withdrawal period. Milk during withdrawal is segregated, and clear milking-parlour identification keeps treated-animal milk out of the sale tank.
02 · The parlour manages cleanliness and time together
Udder, equipment and cooling tank interact within one shift.
Before milking, udders and foremilk are observed; unusual colour, clots or mastitis signs require separation. Teat cleaning, disinfection and drying follow a fixed order because attaching to wet teats carries skin and water contamination into the milk path.
Vacuum, pulsation, liner condition and milking time affect completeness, teat injury and cross-contamination. After cleaning, chemical concentration, temperature, circulation and drainage are verified; a completed cycle alone does not prove clean pipework.
Fresh goat milk is filtered and cooled promptly, with milking finish, tank entry and target-temperature times reviewable. If cooling was slow, a compliant final temperature still requires assessment of earlier microbial growth.
03 · The collection station makes the first decision before unloading
A sample represents the whole tank, not only the sampling valve.
At arrival, farm, time, quantity, temperature and container condition are checked before representative mixing and sampling. Sample identity links the delivery slip, storage tank and test result, while retention conditions prevent distortion during storage.
On-site screening combines sensory condition, acidity or stability, density, fat and protein, inhibitors and necessary microbiology. One passing item cannot replace an overall judgement; unusual density may reflect natural variation or water and other admixture and needs confirmation.
Rejected milk is not diluted by blending with another tank. Refusal, hold, retest and disposition are recorded and fed back to the farm so mastitis, cooling failure or medicine-control problems can be corrected before the next delivery.
04 · A tanker delivers a temperature history to the plant
Arrival temperature is only the endpoint; the route curve also matters.
Before loading, tanker cleaning, drainage and odour are checked; tank, station lot and seal are recorded afterwards. Multi-station collection raises identity and temperature risks, so loading order and each quantity are retained rather than only a total.
Transport avoids long stops and repeated opening. Logger location, calibration and interval affect the curve’s credibility; when temperature rises, route, dwell and equipment condition are used to judge exposure instead of replacing history with one final reading.
The plant receiving bay checks vehicle, seal, cleaning evidence, time and temperature before retesting. Milk remains on hold until results are available; stratification or abnormal samples trigger expanded checks and a tank hold before standardisation.
05 · Choose the product route before heat treatment
One milk lot can split, but processing settings are not interchangeable.
The plant assigns use after composition, microbiological, inhibitor and sensory retests, then filters, clarifies, separates or standardises. Whole powder, formulated powder, liquid milk and fermented milk have different recipes and targets, so the split point preserves lot genealogy.
Homogenisation changes fat-globule distribution and mouthfeel, while heating balances microbial control with protein damage. Temperature, hold, flow and diversion are recorded continuously; start-up, shutdown and deviation product does not automatically join the normal lot.
Pasteurised liquid milk moves promptly to hygienic filling and refrigeration; fermented milk also controls culture, inoculation, endpoint and cooling. Powder proceeds to concentration and drying, with different shelf life, packaging and release tests from both liquid routes.
06 · Spray drying writes a heat history into every particle
Inlet, outlet, solids and atomisation jointly determine powder behaviour.
Evaporation removes water first, but temperature, vacuum and residence affect protein, flavour and viscosity. Over-thick concentrate changes droplet size, while dilute feed increases drying load, so higher solids are not automatically better.
During spray drying, atomisation, inlet and outlet air, tower pressure and exhaust shape particles together. Moisture, bulk density, solubility and scorched particles are trended; one passing final test cannot hide wall deposits or local overheating.
Fluid-bed cooling, sifting and bin transfer prevent caking, moisture uptake and foreign-matter return. Recipe changeover clears residual powder, screens, lines and bins; rework has defined conditions rather than unlimited blending for yield.
07 · Infant formula is not ordinary goat milk powder
A product name carries a distinct recipe, permission and consumer group.
Infant goat formula is produced by age stage and approved recipe, with ingredient specifications, suppliers, quantities and label aligned. A registration number is not borrowed by another name or an improvised recipe, and production remains within the corresponding licence and quality system.
Adult formulated goat milk powder may include compliant nutrients, but ingredients and the applied standard determine identity; whole goat milk powder centres on dairy solids. Claims such as pure or high calcium require recipe, nutrition and test support and do not replace the legal name.
The Fuping goat milk powder geographical indication has a protected area and conditions for its special mark. A Fuping address does not automatically qualify every goat-dairy product; raw material, process, quality and authorised use must each match.
08 · The lot boundary remains after canning
Seal, environment, testing and traceability complete release together.
Cans, lids, bags and fill gas are accepted by incoming lot, while fill weight and seam or heat seal are monitored. Integrity governs oxygen and moisture ingress and powder loss in transport; normal appearance does not replace planned seal verification.
Release assembles recipe checks, critical process, environmental monitoring, finished-product tests and packaging records. Infant formula and ordinary powder differ in test and decision basis, so reports identify product, size, date and lot rather than only a brand.
For a complaint or deviation, the trace code returns to finished lot, packaging, recipe additions, raw-milk tanker, collection station and farm and moves forward to sales destinations. Recall drills verify quantity reconciliation, live contacts and that held stock cannot ship again.
Sources and reading notes
County indicators retain the date and scope of the provincial park account and are not allocated to individual firms. Capacity on company sites is treated as self-description; permissions and infant-formula identity follow regulatory publications. Raw milk, liquid milk, ordinary powder, formulated powder and infant formula are kept distinct.
- A provincial demonstration-park account records 880,000 dairy goats and 230,000 tonnes of annual goat milk in Fuping.
- The same account lists 600 scale farms and family farms and seven dairy processors.
- The Fuping goat milk powder standard covers requirements, testing, labels, packaging, transport and storage; Hongxing Meiling and Jinniu Dairy are among its drafting organisations.
