Datong Daylily Processing

Datong’s daylily industry spans eight counties and districts, with Yunzhou as the scale core. The completed planning period recorded full-chain annual output above RMB 4 billion. That measure covers cultivation, processing and related stages rather than processor revenue alone.

Formation and regional foundations

Fresh daylily has high moisture and a concentrated harvest, requiring rapid grading, heat treatment, drying, conditioning and packing. Cold stores, sheltered drying and drying rooms expand stabilisation capacity, while pickled, frozen and fresh routes lead the same crop into different markets.

Datong daylily is both an eight-county cultivation industry and a processing network centred on Yunzhou. Twenty producers and more than 100 processing-capable cooperatives show a diverse operator base. Standards, research, cold storage and drying determine whether products can move beyond harvest season. Sanli Agriculture, Yimin Development and Huanghua Fangcheng provide three company viewpoints.

Cultivation, Processing and Research Nodes in Datong Daylily

How Eight-county Supply Reaches the Yunzhou Processing Core

Nodes express geographic and process roles, not actual transport distances or company supply routes.

  • Datong municipal daylily full-chain frame — Municipal frame covering cultivation, purchasing, processing, research, distribution and branding with a completed-period value observation and future-plan directions kept in separate temporal categories
  • Yunzhou scaled core — District node directly supported by a 2023 agriculture reply and historical market-regulator research as the principal scaled cultivation and processing context within the wider Datong geography
  • Eight-area cultivation footprint — Dated multi-area raw-material footprint reported by the agriculture authority, distinguishing cultivation geography from processing-site, enterprise, capacity and transaction geography
  • Primary stabilization sequence — Observed sequence of grading, trimming and loading, heat treatment, drying, tempering and packing that identifies control stages without assigning one technology or operating parameter to every processor
  • Cold and drying infrastructure context — Historically observed cold stores, protected drying and drying-room infrastructure supporting several preservation routes while leaving ownership, utilization, condition and present operating status unmeasured
  • Datong daylily standards system — Joint agriculture and market-regulation governance node formally issued in 2023 to coordinate county and district implementation without supplying enterprise adoption, certification or compliance rates
  • Research and pilot development — Public research node combining bounded 2022 formulation and pilot work with a separately disclosed 2023 intended research budget while keeping research stages apart from commercial manufacture

01 · The Full Chain across Eight Counties and Districts

The municipal brand and value frame span several areas, with Yunzhou as the scale core rather than the only producing area.

Datong reports annual value above RMB 4 billion for the daylily chain in a completed period and uses the title China’s Daylily Capital. A 2023 agricultural report places cultivation across eight counties and districts, with Yunzhou as the scaled core. The RMB 4 billion measure covers citywide cultivation, processing, distribution and branding and cannot become Yunzhou processing revenue or one company’s result.

The municipal chain, the eight-area cultivation footprint and the Yunzhou core are three spatial levels. Eight producing areas do not create eight processing centres, and Yunzhou’s core status does not mean all processing occurs there. A 2019 area, 2023 operator counts and planning-period value belong to different dates and should not form one present account.

To follow a Datong daylily lot, record its county of origin and then identify where grading, drying, further processing and packing occur. Each figure needs its level—municipality, county, park or operator—and observation year. Output, value or operator change becomes comparable only when geography, process stage and period align.

  • The above-RMB-4-billion figure measures the full chain, not processing revenue alone.

02 · How Fresh Daylily Is Stabilised

Grading, heat treatment, drying, conditioning and packing address high moisture and a short harvest.

A 2020 view of Yunzhou processing covers raw-material grading, trimming and loading, heat treatment, drying, tempering and packing, together with cold stores, protected drying and drying rooms. It also mentions sauced, frozen and fresh products. These are typical steps and facilities, not proof that every operator uses identical temperatures, times or packaging.

Fresh daylily has a short postharvest window: grading affects lot consistency, heating and drying influence safety, colour and rehydration, tempering redistributes moisture, and packaging and storage prevent moisture regain. The available information gives no company-level critical limits or rejection rates. It shows what needs control without guaranteeing uniform quality across Datong.

On site, follow one lot through harvest-to-receipt time, grading, heating, drying endpoint, tempering, package barrier and storage temperature, linking those settings to the standard and test results. Seeing a cold store or dryer proves only that equipment exists. Lots from different dates help distinguish stable operation from a seasonal demonstration.

  • Equipment settings need adjustment for product route and raw-material condition.

03 · How Standards Shape Quality

Local standards turn input, process and product requirements into practical provisions.

Datong’s agriculture and market-regulation authorities issued the Datong Daylily Standards System, 2023 Edition, and asked counties and districts to apply it locally. The system creates a common framework for cultivation, processing and quality management. The notice provides no company adoption rate, sampling pass rate, training coverage or certification count, so it does not show universal compliance.

The standards system connects raw-material grades, processing, hygiene, testing, labelling and traceability in one vocabulary. Rule existence, departmental promotion and enterprise application are separate levels; implementation appears in applicable clauses, process records, sampling results and closed corrective actions. An issue date or title alone does not show a quality trend.

For a product, first distinguish dried, frozen, pickled, beverage or composite food, then confirm the standard number and edition, input lot, tests, ingredients and shelf-life conditions. A package invoking the 2023 system should identify the applicable clause. Retained-sample codes and sampling dates connect the rule to the actual batch.

  • Even a familiar standard requires the right version, product scope and test method.

04 · Research Funding and Product Development

A 2023 cooperative research project carried a RMB 3 million budget as planned project input.

A 2022 performance report records research on freeze-dried daylily tablets, prepared daylily-millet porridge and braised daylily products. The tablet work covered formulation and process research, while the other two involved process redesign and pilot activity, with a target of at least two research projects completed. These are R&D results rather than continuously sold products or stable commercial lines.

Product development normally moves through formulation, samples, scale-up, stability and safety testing, trials and larger manufacture. Final accounts describe completed research, while a proposed RMB 3 million budget and at least four topics belong to future work. Completed research is not market adoption, and a budget is not expenditure or a delivered result.

A daylily innovation should be labelled as formulation, sample, pilot, testing, licensing, volume production or sale, with the responsible organisation, date, specification and evaluation method. Budgets need separate planned, spent and accepted amounts. Company adoption of a public research result also requires independent information on rights and actual use.

  • A research budget cannot be treated in advance as product sales or a technical result.

05 · How Firms and Cooperatives Divide Work

Twenty producers and more than 100 processing cooperatives show a diverse operator base.

In 2023, Datong daylily involved 20 production enterprises, including four leading firms, and more than 100 cooperatives with processing capability. Product forms included dried, fresh, frozen, pickled, beverages, pastries and dumplings. Enterprises, leading status and cooperatives are different populations, and the information does not show their overlap or which operators make each product.

Operator counts show organisational diversity rather than processing scale. A large factory and a seasonal cooperative may differ greatly in equipment, lot size and market reach, while the four leading firms are a subset of the 20 producers. The cooperatives may perform primary processing, contract drying or their own sales, so the three counts cannot be added.

Later operator comparison needs a directory using the same definitions, with production enterprises, leading recognition, cooperative capability and food licences in separate series. A daylily-related name does not prove continuing operation, and one listing does not reveal output. A change in geography, threshold or organisation type should create a separate observation rather than a forced trend.

  • Operator counts reveal neither output per firm nor the capability of each cooperative.

06 · Dried, Chilled and Other Product Routes

Dried, fresh, frozen and pickled products follow different storage and market rhythms.

Datong daylily can be sold fresh or made into dried, frozen, pickled, sauced, beverage and composite products, with cold stores, sun drying and drying rooms serving different routes. Immediate freshness, dehydration, low-temperature storage and formulated processing have distinct shelf-life and transport needs. The presence of one product in the industry does not mean all three companies produce it.

Fresh goods depend on postharvest speed and cooling, dried products on heating, moisture and humidity protection, frozen goods on freezing and temperature continuity, and composite foods on ingredients, allergens and preparation. Fresh-flower weight cannot be compared directly with dried weight, and a vegetable-product licence does not reveal a daylily recipe. Price and quality comparison requires the same product form and edible condition.

To trace an item, use its labelled product type and ingredients to check the input lot, treatment and production licence, then examine packaging, storage temperature, transport and preparation instructions. Rehydration, thawing or cooking can change the comparison basis and should be recorded. Documents, lot codes and the physical goods must correspond before the route and responsibility are clear.

  • Route selection depends on shelf life, flavour, logistics and customer use.

07 · What the Three Firms Offer as Entry Points

Sanli, Yimin and Huanghua Fangcheng enter the industry through their separate public identities.

Official codes and food licences distinguish the three companies. Datong Sanli Group Agriculture Co., Ltd. has unified social credit code 911402277624658400, while SC10114022730432 covers grain, vegetable, fruit, roasted-nut and tea-related categories. Of the other two, SC11614022730020 identifies Datong Yimin Industrial Development Co., Ltd. with vegetable products; Datong Huanghua Fangcheng Industrial Co., Ltd. connects code 91140215MA0L5LUF40 and SC11614022730302 to grain-processing and vegetable products.

The specialty-town list, food-producer table, industry profile, ecological inspection and state-assets information address legal identity, permitted categories, industry context and particular duties. Sanli Group Agriculture is not the similarly named Sanli Agricultural Products, and all facilities in Yimin Daylily Park cannot automatically become Yimin company assets. A licence category also does not reveal a specific item or present licence status.

Company comparison begins with exact names and credit codes to separate similar entities, followed by licence, category, date, Yunzhou connection and daylily association. A particular product also needs the producer, lot and production date on its package. A directory entry or historical park context does not support current output, revenue, customers or mutual supply.

  • Company comparison still needs catalogues, permissions, plant status and recent delivery.

08 · How to Visit the Daylily Industry

The clearest route begins with cultivation and harvest, then follows stabilisation, standards and products.

Datong daylily’s public chronology runs from Yunzhou processing in 2020 through 2022 research performance and 2023 operator, standards and budget information, then to planning that separates completed chain value from future work. It explains industry organisation and technical direction. It still provides no real-time 2026 output, company revenue or transaction network.

Stable cultivation, functional foods, a price index and an inspection centre are future directions; RMB 3 million is a budget; and 20 firms plus more than 100 cooperatives are a 2023 snapshot. Value above RMB 4 billion belongs to a completed citywide chain, while company licences show dated categories only. Separating these states prevents one number from representing scale, spending, research and operations at once.

A visit can choose one dried, frozen or composite daylily product and follow it from input location and postharvest time through treatment, standards, testing, packaging, storage, licensing and sales form. Equipment should match a recent operating record, while a research sample needs confirmation that it entered licensed production. A repeat visit using the same product, lot, energy and maintenance checks can distinguish routine operation from a one-time display.

  • Outside harvest season, a visit should pay particular attention to crop year and storage condition.

Sources and reading notes

Full-chain value, operator counts, research budget and process observations retain their own dates. Diagram links from cultivation through stabilisation, standards and research show industry stages rather than contracts among the three firms.
