Danzhou Sandu petrochemical materials

Polyester, elastomer and road asphalt use different feedstocks, units and test languages. The Sandu reading does not substitute park turnover for product status; it separates construction, feed-in, qualified output and commercial operation.

Formation and regional foundations

Yangpu refining, storage and port systems provide feed and logistics; independent projects convert aromatics into PTA and polyester or heavy fractions into road and waterproofing asphalt. Unit safety, emissions, tankage and docks constrain delivery alongside product tests.

Aromatics move toward PTA and polyester, heavy feed becomes road or waterproofing asphalt, and other olefin projects may lead to elastomers. They share Yangpu pipelines, tanks and docks but not reactions, tests or start-up status. Understanding Sandu begins by separating signing, construction, feed-in, qualified output and commercial operation.

Core geography: A Sandu-Yangpu petrochemical-material setting where aromatic and olefin feedstocks move into polyester, asphalt-based materials and other polymer products

Three independent material routes over shared Yangpu facilities

Where product duty separates after a shared dock

Utility corridors, tanks and docks form the shared background; polyester, elastomer and asphalt cross it with their own lot identities and test lines.

  • Aromatic and PTA unit material account — Aromatic tank identity, impurities and feed time align with the PTA oxidation and purification phase, while recycle and nonconforming destinations remain separate.
  • Polyester chip and polymerisation lot — Polyester chips carry polymer lot, viscosity, colour and moisture into drying and forming, returning preform faults to a precise thermal history.
  • Degradable-material sample — A degradable material states chemistry, product thickness and intended environment, with storage performance and breakdown curves measured separately.
  • Elastomer project status sheet — An elastomer project distinguishes design, mechanical completion, feed-in and sustained operation, identifying the actual equipment behind every sample.
  • Asphalt-material blending tank — The asphalt blend tank retains feed, proportions, temperature and top-middle-bottom samples, with road and waterproofing measures judged by their own uses.
  • Tank switch and pipeline clearing sheet — Pipeline changeover records previous and next products, valve positions and displacement volume, sending the first segment to isolation for contamination testing.

01 · Aromatic feed enters the PTA boundary first

Feed purity and continuity constrain oxidation.

The PTA route records aromatic feed, catalyst system, oxidation-purification and operating phase. Trace impurities, water, and supply interruption in an aromatic tank affect continuous oxidation and purification, while catalyst condition and solvent circulation belong to the PTA unit itself. Upstream withdrawal, downstream receipt, and intermediate loss should reconcile within the same shift.

Group access to upstream feed does not establish stable downstream quality and delivery by the project entity. Group access to aromatics does not show that a new unit controls PTA colour, impurities, and particle form consistently; feed availability and product quality require separate evidence. Recycle and rework during commissioning also distort a simple input-output ratio.

Track commissioning into commercial operation with separate tanks and lots and update the quality baseline on status change. Bind every feed movement to tank identity, analysis, and operating phase, recording mother-liquor recycle and nonconforming destination separately. Change status from commissioning to routine supply only after material balance and quality distribution remain stable across consecutive lots.

  • Availability of aromatic feed does not establish sustained product quality from the PTA unit.

02 · Polyester connects viscosity to downstream processing

Polymerisation still faces chip or product validation.

Polyester lots record feed, polymerisation conditions, viscosity, colour and chip state. Intrinsic viscosity, moisture, end groups, and colour of polyester chips move with polymerisation and drying, while moisture uptake after packaging affects downstream melting. Thermal history through crystallisation, predrying, and bottle forming must remain linked to the original lot.

Laboratory conformity can still expose degradation and processing problems in drying, crystallisation or bottle forming. A laboratory viscosity inside range can still accompany melt degradation, yellowing, or unstable forming through distribution and moisture. Assigning every bottle fault to machinery misses storage, transport, and drying experienced by chips before use. Moisture records help distinguish those pathways.

Validate in a representative downstream process and return exceptions to the responsible polymer and chip lot. Form preforms from representative lots under one drying programme, logging melt pressure, colour, and defect distribution while retaining unused chips. If problems appear, compare transport packaging, dryer dew point, and polymerisation curves to locate where the drift began.

  • Passing polyester viscosity can still degrade during bottle forming through moisture, making packaging and drying part of lot behaviour.

03 · A degradable route first states its degradation conditions

A material name does not replace environment and standard.

A degradable material states chemistry, product processing, use performance and intended degradation environment. Materials described as degradable encounter entirely different temperature, moisture, and microbial conditions in industrial compost, soil, seawater, or ordinary storage. Product thickness, crystallinity, and additives also affect both useful life and decomposition rate. Disposal conditions remain part of the specification.

Calling it rapid disappearance in any environment misleads material selection and waste management. A result achieved in hot industrial compost does not establish the same behaviour after littering in nature. Reducing heat resistance or strength to accelerate breakdown may also cause packaging to fail prematurely during storage and distribution.

Test mechanics, storage and degradation for the target product and report them separately. Define product use, collection route, and target standard before preparing separate storage, processing, service, and degradation specimens. Retain environmental conditions and mass-change curves in the report so buyers see a performance window rather than one material label.

  • A degradability conclusion needs its environment and standard; industrial compost results do not stand for natural settings.

04 · Elastomer projects separate design from output

Design package, construction and qualified output are different states.

An elastomer project identifies designed product, process, construction progress and whether qualified output exists. An elastomer project lists target grades and capacity during design, but after construction it still faces purging, equipment integration, feed-in, and quality ramp-up. Laboratory samples may come from an external pilot line and do not show that the commercial unit has reached the same state.

Using design capability as current supply prematurely assumes grades and customer qualification. Treating design capacity as current supply assumes feed, utilities, and process control are already stable. Treating first samples as every-grade capability also skips continuous operation and customer processing qualification, so project progress and product evidence must stay separate.

Update status by milestone and label samples as laboratory, pilot or commercial-unit output. Update the status sheet through design, civil work, mechanical completion, feed-in, qualified output, and continuous operation, identifying equipment and date on every sample. Before offering a grade, verify that commercial-unit lots and customer processing results are both available.

  • Elastomer design capacity is not current availability; commercial-unit lots and customer processing still need to occur.

05 · Heavy feed becomes asphalt through blending

Road and waterproofing uses need different grades.

Asphalt production records feed, blend ratio, temperature and tank circulation and tests by end use. Source and storage temperature of heavy feed alter viscosity, while charging order, circulation time, and sample position in a blend tank affect uniformity. Road asphalt and waterproofing material may look alike but target different penetration and low-temperature behaviour.

Similar appearance can hide different temperature sensitivity and ageing, so loading temperature is insufficient. A suitable loading temperature proves transport flow only; it does not replace softening point, ageing, or end-use performance. If a tank has thermal gradients or stratification, a passing top sample may still differ from material delivered near the bottom.

Sample tank top, middle and bottom and relate them to road or waterproofing tests to detect stratification. After blending, sample the top, middle, and bottom for viscosity, penetration, softening point, and change after ageing. If circulation is insufficient, extend mixing and retest, assigning road or waterproofing delivery only after uniformity is demonstrated.

  • Asphalt loading temperature reflects transport condition only; penetration, softening point and ageing relate to actual use.

06 · Tank farms and pipelines complicate lot boundaries

Shared facilities must retain material identity.

Tank switching records previous and next material, valve position, clearing or displacement and first-lot destination. When a shared pipeline switches products, liquid in low points, valve dead zones, and displacement medium can enter the first segment. An electronic valve-position record without field confirmation may also disagree with actual flow and break lot identity.

Pipeline residue and wrong valves can contaminate conforming unit output during logistics. Even after passing at the unit outlet, material can acquire previous-product contamination in the tank farm, making logistics more than transport. Sending the first segment directly into a large tank dilutes evidence while still disturbing sensitive downstream processing.

Sample the first segment separately and join normal commercial lots only after clearing is confirmed. Verify route and valve position before a switch, calculate displacement volume, and direct the first segment into an isolated tank for separate analysis. Transfer it to routine storage only after critical contaminants pass, preserving clearing medium and timing records.

  • The first segment after a shared-pipeline switch needs isolation because unit-outlet conformity cannot exclude logistics contamination.

07 · Feed-in commissioning cannot skip exception records

Stops, releases and rework are part of unit learning.

Commissioning logs retain feed time, interlocks, deviations, stops and product destination. During initial feed-in, temperature, pressure, and recycle composition keep approaching the design window; interlock trips, short stops, and rework are part of that process. A first passing sample may come from a brief stable interval and says little about following shifts.

Announcing a first qualified output does not describe later continuous operation and lot stability. Announcing first output compresses the commissioning learning curve into one moment and hides whether deviations were closed or waste was handled. Commercial operation requires sustained process, quality, and delivery, not proof that equipment once made a conforming product.

Define the sustained conforming period and exception-closure conditions before changing status to commercial operation. Set a sustained stability duration for critical variables and log each deviation, disposition, reset, and product destination. After that duration, review between-lot variation, energy use, and nonconforming proportion before changing the unit status. The evidence should span several operating shifts.

  • A first conforming output is only a commissioning moment; closed deviations and stability across shifts support commercial operation.

08 · Dock delivery extends quality to the final tank

Lot and temperature continue through vessel loading.

Delivery records include tank, quantity, temperature, sample, loading time and destination. Tanker preheating, vessel cleanliness, loading order, and port waiting time change temperature and contamination risk, while one delivery may span several storage tanks. Plant, loading, and arrival samples correspond only when they share seals and lot identities.

Port dwell, cooling or tank mixing can alter material state, so factory release is not arrival condition. Plant release shows conformity before loading but cannot cover cooling, compartment mixing, or water ingress in transit. Without loading sequence and compartment mapping, supplier, carrier, and receiver cannot locate where an arrival difference occurred. Shared samples then anchor the investigation.

Retain pre- and post-shipping samples and agree arrival tests, tracing differences through tank and transit time. Confirm compartment condition before shipment, record source tank, flow, and temperature over time, and seal samples from the beginning, middle, and end. Retest at agreed arrival positions and temperature, using the timeline to investigate waiting, transfer, and transit when results diverge.

  • Plant release does not cover port dwell or compartment mixing; sealed samples around loading determine whether arrival differences can be located.

Park turnover and group refining capability cannot substitute for a named legal unit. Each material route must match unit status, product, test and delivery mode; one group is counted by genuinely independent operating entities.
