Dacheng thermal-insulation materials
Dacheng insulation spans rock wool, glass wool, elastomeric foam, fire-stopping and aerogel. Similar labels mask different temperature, moisture and fire-design uses. A provincial account reports more than 170 firms directly supporting over 32,000 jobs and separately describes glass-wool and elastomeric capacity; those regional figures do not determine a model’s conductivity, fire class or availability.
Formation and regional foundations
Selection works backwards from service conditions. Cold pipe begins with condensation and vapour-seal control; heating networks and equipment focus on sustained temperature and thickness; building envelopes add assembly fire requirements. Fibre forming, foaming, curing, cutting or facing create different products, while installation changes joints, compression and moisture protection, so product reports and installation method belong together.
Insulation is easily misselected by category name. Rock-wool boards and sections, centrifugal glass wool, closed-cell elastomeric foam and aerogel blanket cannot be compared by thickness alone; density, test temperature, water uptake, smoke and facing alter the result. An environmental monitoring list establishes an entity trail, not product performance.
Core geography: A county chain connecting the Liuguzhuang base, insulation producers, testing, logistics and building-thermal applications
Dacheng insulation selection: how service conditions change material and installation
Five decisions from thermal-moisture duty to sealed installation
Material routes may exist in parallel; the diagram does not treat different insulation products as equivalent substitutes.
- Thermal-moisture duty sheet — Medium temperature, ambient humidity, allowable heat loss, space and fire assembly set the selection boundary.
- Rock-wool forming line — Fibre, binder, curing, density and board or section dimensions define the rock-wool product.
- Glass-wool and elastomeric cells — Glass-fibre products and closed-cell foam are produced to their own temperature range, thickness and facing.
- Laboratory and report index — Conductivity, fire, water and dimensional results must match the model and test conditions.
- Joints, vapour seal and fixing — Joint closure, compression, vapour barrier and penetrations determine installed performance.
01 · Insulation can fail before production: moisture and facings in the raw-material store
Mineral fibre, glass fibre, elastomer feedstock and facings have different storage enemies.
Dacheng insulation inputs can include mineral or glass batch, binders, rubber and plastic constituents, blowing systems, flame-retardant ingredients, aluminium foil, glass cloth and other facings. Fibrous goods are vulnerable to rain and compression; elastomer feedstocks respond to temperature, sunlight and formulation lot. An intact-looking facing can still differ in coating, pores and bond, changing the finished vapour path. Outdoor fibre storage also checks pallet clearance, rain-sheet drainage and stacking pressure.
Arrived stock is not automatically fit to charge. Moist mineral-wool facing can blister after lamination, while compressed fibre needs recovery checks after unpacking. An expired elastomer additive may look normal during mixing yet change cell structure, dimensions or odour later. Package colour cannot replace grade, lot and shelf-life identification.
Receiving separates material families: mineral and glass batch for chemistry and size, binders for concentration and storage temperature, elastomer ingredients for grade, lot and expiry, and facings for width, basis weight and surface. One finished item is then traced back to every input lot. A leak or temperature excursion isolates exposed stock before retest and disposition.
- Fibre, elastomer feedstock and facings use different storage conditions.
- Arrival is not release for production.
- A storage excursion is isolated before retest and disposition.
02 · From melt to fibre: forming, binder application and curing
Fibre diameter, density, resin distribution and cure form the fibrous product together.
Glass or mineral wool begins with melting, fibre formation by centrifugal or other means, and binder application. Collection, compression, curing, cooling, cutting and packing create board, blanket or pipe section. Melt temperature, fibre-forming conditions, binder rate, belt speed and oven profile jointly affect fibre, density, strength and organic condition. Melting-condition changes also affect energy use, slagging and cleaning frequency.
A board with correct average density can still have uneven fibre, local resin excess or incomplete cure. End-of-line weight misses width and length gradients, and an oven setpoint is not the product’s full time-temperature history. Raising line speed without confirming cure can leave a flat-looking product that later develops odour or dimensional change.
Choose one pack and trace batch, melt period, fibre conditions, binder preparation and oven curve. Sample several positions across width and machine direction for thickness, density, thermal-conductivity specimens and relevant cure indicators. Changeover, shutdown and restart material remains identified outside stable-run averages, with every result mapped to its sampling position.
- Melting, fibre forming, binder and cure jointly define wool.
- Average density can hide local gradients.
- Changeover and restart goods stay outside stable production.
03 · Cells in elastomeric insulation: from mixing to continuous foaming
Weighing, mixing temperature, extrusion dimensions and oven rhythm constrain one another.
Elastomeric pipe or sheet begins with polymer, fillers, flame-retardant ingredients, plasticising system, blowing and crosslinking constituents, then passes weighing, mixing, resting, extrusion, continuous foaming or cure, cooling, splitting and packing. Charge order and compound temperature affect dispersion and safety, while green dimensions and oven speed shape cells, skin and final size. Some ingredients have a narrow addition time: too early reacts or volatilises, too late disperses poorly.
A soft feel does not show uniformly closed cells. Large cells, under-foaming, damaged skin or split-edge cracks alter vapour paths, dimensional stability and thermal behaviour. If mixing batches are not mapped to oven length, the boundaries of an anomaly become unclear, and end-only sampling can miss a middle section created by speed variation.
Mixing records actual weight, charge time, compound temperature and mixer against one batch. Extrusion adds green size, line speed, oven profile and product length, using metre marks to locate specimens within a roll. A cell anomaly is isolated along speed and temperature history, then checked for density, dimensions, moisture-related performance and required fire behaviour before a new batch first section is confirmed.
- Elastomer foaming links formula, compound batch and continuous length.
- Soft feel does not replace cell and vapour checks.
- Metre marks and oven curves locate a roll anomaly.
04 · Flue gas, dust and an automatic-monitoring list: what it can and cannot say
An environmental list checks entity and location; it is not a conclusion for every emission period.
Fibre-wool melting, forming, binder application and curing can involve hot gas, dust and organics; elastomer mixing, extrusion and foaming add charging dust, volatiles, odour, noise and fire risk. Enclosures, collection, treatment, fans and stacks form a continuous path, and openings, bypasses or unstable operation can alter capture. Melting and foaming areas also require combustible separation, hot-surface guards and emergency shutdown paths.
A January 2024 Hebei environmental document on operation quality of automatic monitoring equipment lists Hebei Shenzhou Thermal Insulation Technology Co., Ltd. and Wilvic Energy-Saving Technology Hebei Co., Ltd., among others. It supports legal names, location and that month’s evaluation context, not real-time conformity for every line, date and pollutant.
At the site, follow one normal production period from source enclosure through duct, treatment and stack, checking fan state, key parameters and maintenance time. Automatic data is read with production load, shutdown, faults and manual comparisons. During treatment maintenance, the plant should explain how the source process stops, reduces load or uses an authorised backup path.
- The control chain runs from source through collection, treatment and stack.
- An environmental list stays within its date and evaluation scope.
- Monitoring data is read against production load and control operation.
05 · Using four large measures: firms, jobs and two capacity shares
More than 170 firms, 32,000 jobs, 56 percent and 40 percent do not share one denominator.
Hebei industry material reports more than 170 enterprises and over 32,000 direct workers in Dacheng’s insulation base. Another provincial account states that glass-wool capacity represents 56 percent nationally and elastomeric-product capacity 40 percent. The MIIT list separately confirms the formal cluster and admission, without remeasuring those figures. County capacity context does not answer a project’s thickness, fire or delivery requirements.
Firm count measures entities, direct employment measures people, and the two percentages refer separately to glass wool and elastomeric-product capacity. They are not sales shares and cannot be allocated as per-company capacity or labour. Dacheng also includes other fibres, facings, engineering support and services, so 170-plus firms cannot be assumed to make both measured products.
Whenever these measures are used, retain page date, product name, unit, geography and the word capacity. A later percentage is comparable only if it still covers glass wool or elastomeric products and uses national capacity as denominator. One company’s available quantity instead depends on its line, maintenance, orders and conforming inventory.
- Four measures cover entities, people and two product capacities.
- Capacity share is not sales, market share or one firm’s availability.
- Old and new values compare only under equal product and denominator.
06 · A rock-wool upgrade and emissions monitoring answer different halves of the question
The Honghai case describes an equipment upgrade; the environmental table records monitoring operation, and neither completes the other.
A Hebei industry case names Dacheng Honghai Insulation Materials and confines rock-wool products and an equipment upgrade to that enterprise. A January 2024 automatic-monitoring operation-quality table separately names Hebei Shenzhou Thermal Insulation and Wilvic Energy-Saving Technology Hebei in a dated monitoring context. The first does not describe the latter two companies' products, while the second does not provide an environmental finding on Honghai's upgrade.
Start with the application rather than the company name. A building envelope request states location, density, dimensions, water layers and system fire requirements; a cold or hot pipe request states medium temperature, conductivity reference temperature, vapour resistance, diameter, thickness and joints. When requesting model and inspection lot, also check the Chinese legal name, plant and invoicing entity. Performance data are compared only when test conditions and construction details match.
Honghai's equipment-upgrade case cannot be averaged across other Dacheng lines. Shenzhou and Wilvic appearing in an environmental monitoring table does not publish their insulation catalogues, inventory or project experience, while insulation and energy-saving words are not conductivity, water or fire findings. Read together, the sources prompt separate checks of process and environmental management; they neither rank entities nor assemble a common supply chain.
- The Honghai upgrade case is confined to that enterprise and date.
- The monitoring table does not describe insulation products.
- Envelope and pipe parameters follow their own service conditions.
07 · One conductivity value is not enough: heat, water, fire and dimensions
Density, mean temperature, moisture and sampling direction all change the reading.
Insulation testing extends beyond thermal conductivity. Fibrous products can add density, thickness, dimensional stability, water behaviour, compression and fire response; elastomeric products can add vapour resistance, cells, tensile behaviour, ageing and odour. Faced composites further separate core, facing and bond. Every result belongs to its specimen, conditioning, method and decision scope. Sampling shaped sections or composites avoids treating cut-edge damage as original structure.
Conductivity without mean temperature, specimen thickness, density and moisture is hard to compare. A finished fire classification cannot be assembled from isolated constituents because facing, adhesive, substrate and joints influence system response. One low-conductivity certificate cannot establish non-combustibility, water resistance and permanent performance at once.
Before testing, sample a defined production lot by position and record dimensions, mass, facing direction and conditioning. Thermal, moisture, fire and retained specimens share the lot but receive separate IDs so one repeatedly conditioned piece does not represent the original state. Reports are reconciled with method, specimen description and measured value, with anomalies returned to sealed retain samples. A cutting diagram preserves each specimen’s original position and direction.
- Conductivity is read with temperature, density, thickness and moisture.
- Finished fire response is not simple addition of components.
- Different test specimens share a lot but keep separate IDs.
08 · One joint can bypass an insulation layer: cutting, bonding and fire details
After factory conformity, thickness, joints, fixings and penetrations still determine the installed system.
After leaving a Dacheng factory, insulation still faces transport, storage, opening, cutting, joints, bonding, mechanical fixing, facing seals and penetration details. Walls, ducts, chilled pipes and hot equipment differ in temperature, humidity, geometry and fire compartments. Even the same material needs different installation, and a product report does not automatically cover the completed system. Rain exposure during transport triggers bottom-moisture checks even when wrapping looks intact.
An unsealed joint on cold pipe can admit vapour, causing condensation, blistering or metal corrosion. Compression, gaps and support bridges on hot equipment alter surface temperature, while poor firestop transitions can create smoke and flame paths. Average completed thickness misses valves, flanges, supports, corners and wall penetrations.
Before work, define details from pipe size, design temperature, humidity, thickness and fire compartment, then match product, adhesive and facing lots. Make first-work examples for a valve, support, elbow and penetration, recording cuts, joints, bond time and seals. Completed inspection prioritises discontinuities; cold systems add operating-condition condensation and thermal imaging, with repairs marked on as-built drawings.
- A factory product report does not cover the installed system.
- Joints, supports and penetrations are thermal, moisture and fire weak points.
- First complex details become examples and repairs return to as-built drawings.
Sources and reading notes
Insulation materials cannot be substituted on one conductivity value. Selection also aligns service temperature, mean test temperature, density, moisture condition, vapour resistance, fire response and dimensional stability; a building system then adds anchors, joints, penetrations and fire stopping. A conforming laboratory specimen does not cover wet transport or a thermal bridge created during installation.
- Insulation-material firms reported by the provincial account: 170+.
- Direct jobs reported by the provincial account: 32,000+.
- Reported share of national glass-wool capacity: 56%.
- Reported share of national elastomer-insulation capacity: 40%.
