Chongren medium- and low-voltage power-transmission equipment
Chongren manufacturing runs from electrical steel, windings and insulation to transformers and switchboards, yet delivery remains one device with a rating, voltage class and environment. No-load loss, temperature rise, insulation and interlocking point to different processes; county scale cannot replace product tests.
Formation and regional foundations
Local capability grew through transformer assembly and component supply, while Yifa, Mingzheng and Luge added digital scheduling, packaged distribution and adaptation to different climates. National cluster status defines the boundary; the scope stays with evidenced medium- and low-voltage manufacture and testing rather than grid construction, power-station operation or all Jiangxi electrical equipment.
At first energisation, core joints, turns, insulation moisture and clamping pressure enter the electromagnetic and thermal response together. A low-loss number without rating, temperature and test condition says little about service, while switchgear adds short-circuit withstand, mechanical interlocking and secondary circuits.

Chongren equipment lots and test path
Which result follows which nameplate
Core, winding, insulation and cabinet carry separate lots into assembly; factory results return only to the corresponding serial number and stated environment.
- Electrical steel and core lot — Coil identity, grade, cut direction and burr readings show which electrical steel became the core.
- Winding and insulation — Conductor lot, turns, transpositions and insulation positions fix each coil before nesting.
- Active-part drying and assembly — Vacuum profile, extracted moisture and air exposure determine when the active part can be filled or enclosed.
- Loss and heat-rise bench — Loss and temperature rise at the specified voltage, load and cooling state belong to the tested transformer.
- Switchgear interlock station — Doors, earthing switches, breakers and secondary circuits are checked here for agreement between position and protection command.
- Nameplate and test report — The final nameplate binds rating, voltage, cooling method and test sheet to one traceable serial number.
01 · Core joints decide the first no-load watts
The magnetic circuit begins with grade, cutting and stacking.
When an electrical-steel coil reaches cutting, grade and gauge are only the first conditions of magnetic quality. Cut direction, burr height, step-lap geometry and clamping pressure all alter excitation current. No-load loss, acoustic spectrum and core temperature therefore need to remain tied to the exact coil and stacking record, and the design figure is meaningful only when it repeats at the specified voltage, frequency and stable temperature. If only one phase runs high, its limb joint pattern, clamp pressure and hot spots deserve a separate review so that an overall average does not conceal a local core defect.
A cutting burr may create a local conductive path between laminations, while a disorderly joint pushes flux toward an edge. Either fault can first appear as hum or a hot patch without immediately exceeding the total loss limit. A single wattage figure cannot distinguish steel variation, stacking error or loose clamping; harmonic location, thermal images and excitation current need to be interpreted together. On thin high-grade steel, deburring must also preserve the insulation coating, and interlaminar isolation is checked again after edge treatment.
For the first core, laminations are sampled by coil, burr and cutting direction are measured, and clamped dimensions and joint order are recorded after stacking. A magnetic check can precede active-part assembly; the completed transformer then repeats no-load current, loss and sound measurements under the specified supply. A different steel grade, gauge or step-lap design needs a new loss and temperature baseline rather than inheriting the previous pass.
- No-load-loss results need the core lot and stacking condition beside them.
02 · Equal copper mass does not make windings equal
Turns, conductor and axial support carry electromagnetic force together.
Equal copper mass does not make two windings electrically or mechanically equivalent. Conductor section, turn count, transposition, axial height and the spacing between high- and low-voltage coils shape DC resistance, leakage flux and short-circuit force. Weighing alone can hide displaced turns, so ratio, resistance and design impedance must be read with the measured coil geometry before the active part is closed.
A coil may look normal under ordinary load, yet axial and radial forces during a short circuit rapidly magnify loose turns. Uneven spacers, an overly tight bend at a transposition, or weak tap-lead restraint can turn local stress into insulation abrasion and permanent movement. This risk is not revealed by simple energisation; phase resistance, coil dimensions and clamping pressure must point to a consistent condition.
After winding, axial height, inner and outer diameters and each critical transposition are measured, while turn count, conductor lot and DC resistance stay with that coil. Dimensions are checked again during nesting and clamping to detect spacer movement, followed by ratio and impedance checks for electrical symmetry. Any change in conductor, tap arrangement or support scheme requires fresh thermal and short-circuit mechanical calculations.
- Winding geometry reveals electrical condition better than weight.
03 · Moisture in insulation speaks during withstand testing
Paper, board, resin and oil absorb moisture and release gas differently.
Paper, board, resin and oil experience different exposure during active-part assembly, and clamping changes both thickness and gas paths. Vacuum and oven temperature describe the equipment but do not by themselves prove dryness. Moisture removal, material water content, dielectric loss and exposure duration together define the end point, while oil-filled and dry-type insulation systems require different criteria.
Residual moisture reduces withstand margin and accelerates ageing where the electric field is concentrated. Long exposure after drying can also undo an otherwise sound cycle. A single withstand pass does not explain every weakness because partial discharge, dielectric loss and dissolved gas observe different phenomena; aligning those results with insulation lot, assembly time and vacuum history helps separate material, handling and structural causes.
The shop sets a maximum interval from unpacking insulation to loading the oven and observes temperature or moisture removal at representative active-part positions. Water content or dielectric-loss results confirm the vacuum hold before oil filling and final assembly minimise renewed exposure. Withstand and partial-discharge reports return to the same insulation lot and serial number; a changed material system, active-part size or dryer requires a new cycle.
- Drying end point needs vacuum and material condition together.
04 · Temperature rise settles loss against cooling
Load loss ultimately becomes heat in winding, oil or resin.
A temperature-rise test balances loss against cooling rather than merely recording the highest reading. Winding current density, stray loss, oil or air passages and cooler condition together determine the hot spot, while top-oil and ambient temperatures must agree with resistance-based winding calculations. The curve becomes meaningful only after the rated load is held until the rate of temperature change has stabilised.
A blocked duct, bypassing oil flow or a sensor placed in a cool location can leave the average reading acceptable while the true hot spot exceeds its margin. Altitude changes air density, and enclosure layout or neighbouring heat sources reduce cooling capacity. A factory result in open air therefore cannot be transferred blindly to site, especially when load, duration and cooler state are missing.
Before testing, sensor positions, cooler operation and ambient points are confirmed. Winding, top-oil and room temperatures are then logged continuously at rated load until the specified stabilisation criterion is met. Thermal images or phase-resistance asymmetry should lead to checks of flow, joints and stray loss, not a changed alarm setting. Altitude, enclosure space or harmonic loading at destination requires a revised thermal assessment.
- The heat-rise curve must show stabilisation and ambient correction.
05 · Transformer loss belongs to a stated efficiency class
Efficiency figures depend on rating, construction and reference temperature.
An efficiency class belongs to a stated rating, construction and reference temperature, with no-load and load losses measured separately. The first is dominated by core steel and stacking; the second includes winding resistance and stray effects. Combining them into one promotional number hides distinct manufacturing causes, and a single prototype cannot represent every rating in a family with different limits and uncertainty.
Production lots vary in steel, conductor resistance and assembly gaps, so a low-loss prototype does not establish identical performance for every later unit. Phase error in power measurement, transformer range selection and temperature conversion can also move the result. Harmonic loads or renewable-energy package substations introduce additional loss paths; an efficiency result under sinusoidal conditions answers only the specified test point.
The calculation begins with rating, voltage and cooling method. A calibrated measurement chain records no-load and load loss separately and converts them to the required temperature. Sampling across a family must state the covered ratings and lots, with deviations traced to core, winding and assembly records. The nameplate class is reliable only when it matches the unit test sheet; a changed structure or waveform needs a separate stray-loss and heat assessment.
- No-load and load loss cannot be merged into one promotional figure.
06 · Switchgear interlocks begin once the door closes
Isolation, earthing and breaker positions form mechanical and electrical logic.
Packaged switchgear places busbars, clearances, breaker positions, earthing and secondary wiring in one enclosure, but their safety functions are not one test. Short-circuit withstand addresses structure and conductors under fault current, temperature rise concerns sustained load, and interlocking verifies operating sequence. Mechanical and electrical logic must remain consistent as the door closes, the truck moves and the earthing state changes.
A temporary bypass, insufficient linkage travel or distorted door can defeat anti-misoperation functions in an otherwise normal-looking cabinet. Lightly moving the mechanism without power says little about operating force, mistaken actions or maintenance states. A passing transformer cannot cover switchgear withstand or interlock duties, and a wrong secondary contact may even make the remote indication contradict the mechanical position.
Interlocks are exercised against the actual state table, covering normal switching, earthing, withdrawal, door movement and deliberately incorrect sequences. Each outcome is checked against breaker, isolator and earth positions; secondary-circuit faults can then be injected to confirm containment and blocking. A changed cabinet, breaker mechanism or bus arrangement requires its own state evaluation rather than borrowing a demonstration from a related model.
- Operating sequences must cover normal, mistaken and maintenance states.
07 · Small wire markers decide whether protection reaches the device
Current transformers, protection, metering and communication share cabinet space.
Secondary control locates primary equipment through terminal numbers, polarity, transformer ratios, protection settings and communication mapping. An illuminated lamp proves only that part of a circuit is energised; it does not establish current direction, trip path or remote indication. Point-to-point checks, polarity tests and an integrated trip must use the final drawing revision, or the displayed alarm may point to the wrong device.
Reversed transformer polarity can invert directional protection, while stale settings can destroy selectivity; either error may remain hidden even when communications are online. Unsynchronised event timestamps then obscure whether protection operated first, the breaker failed, or telemetry lagged. A software screen cannot reveal a weak terminal, wrong wire marker or open circuit, so logical settings and physical wiring require a combined check.
Checking begins point by point from schematics and terminal drawings. After continuity and polarity are confirmed, simulated currents or states are injected and the order of alarm, trip, block and remote indication is observed. Any temporary rewiring returns to the drawing and triggers a repeat test of the affected chain. Communication success is only one link; an integrated trip must still prove that the command reaches the intended breaker.
- Point-to-point checks reveal more than an energised lamp.
08 · The last report before dispatch must match the unit in view
Serial identity gathers materials, process, tests and nameplate.
The final dispatch record must establish that the unit in view is the one that was tested. Custom voltage, weather protection, enclosure form, accessories or temporary rewiring all change configuration, so serial identity must gather drawing revision, material records, test sheets and packing marks. A family certificate alone cannot show that the accessories, wiring and nameplate inside the crate belong to the same unit.
Report substitution is most likely when similar units are assembled in parallel, although their ratios, protection settings or destination accessories differ. Discovering the mismatch after packing invites site rewiring without factory controls and invalidates the tested boundary. Previous export experience also does not establish suitability for a new climate, altitude or voltage system; those conditions must enter the design and verification of the specific unit.
Before packing, the check works backward from the nameplate: serial number against final drawing, wiring and settings against repeat tests, accessories against the packing list, and raw results against the actual configuration. Every deviation is resolved with a traceable disposition before dispatch. The installer then receives a technical identity matched to one unit; a changed destination condition must return to design and testing before shipment.
- Delivery records should explain disposition of every deviation.
Sources and reading notes
Equipment is read through nameplate rating, voltage class, insulation system and environment. Transformer tests, switchboard verification and site integration remain distinct; regional statistics describe industry scale rather than one unit’s performance.
- The national name is limited to Chongren medium- and low-voltage equipment, excluding transmission construction and plant operation.
- Local material names assemblers and component firms, while regional cooperation cannot replace unit tests and nameplate responsibility.
- An industrial platform links orders, process and inspection data but does not establish that any model suits a specific grid.
- Export adaptation involves climate, altitude and local voltage systems; an export does not establish universal environmental fitness.
