Changji Agricultural Processing
Changji agricultural processing spans grain and oil, processing tomatoes, dairy, seasonings and wine-grape inputs, each with a different season and temperature regime. Expected 2024 processing value was RMB 68.5 billion across the prefecture, not the turnover of any single plant.
Formation and regional foundations
Farms and livestock operations supply Changji with varied inputs, while transport and industrial parks route them into different workshops. Tomatoes race the harvest clock, milk stays chilled, and grain or oilseed puts greater weight on moisture, impurities and storage.
Changji agricultural processing is not a single-product chain: grain and oil, processing tomatoes, dairy, seasonings and wine-grape inputs run in parallel. A 2024 press conference gives prefecture-wide value, national or Xinjiang shares and a key-enterprise count; tomato-processing, high-tech-zone and grain-base sources add process, research and plant entry points. Each category retains its season, process and temperature so RMB 68.5 billion never becomes one imagined factory.

01 · Changji Agricultural Processing: prefecture-wide multi-product boundaries
The prefecture total spans categories; one park represents only a segment.
A 2024 Xinjiang press conference uses Changji prefecture and reports agricultural processing plus several strong categories. A 2025 high-tech-zone account focuses on research and services in the national agricultural zone, while the 2022 eight-chain item concerns policy organisation. Prefecture, park and chain are three frames rather than interchangeable plant locations — Changji prefecture totals span many farm goods; the high-tech zone and individual plants are only nodes, so public data cannot become one product story.
Grain and oil, processing tomatoes, raw milk and wine-grape inputs share an irrigated agricultural base but not a common processing clock. Grain and oilseed can enter storage, tomatoes and grapes arrive in concentrated harvest seasons, and raw milk is controlled by the hour for temperature and delivery. A single average turnover rate would conceal input loss, idle equipment and cold-chain risk.
A visit to Changji can place raw-material bases, the agricultural high-tech zone, grain mills, dairies and seasoning producers on separate map layers. Each point should state its jurisdiction and product category, with multi-category companies separated by workshop and permit. Following one product from intake through its line to dispatch reveals more than a prefecture-wide total.
- Changji's prefecture total spans grain, tomato, dairy and other products; one park represents only one segment.
02 · Changji Agricultural Processing: output, shares and entity counts
RMB 68.5 billion, two shares and 13 firms retain their denominators.
The release expects RMB 68.5 billion in 2024 agricultural-processing value, more than 17 percent of national processing-tomato output, 30 percent of Xinjiang wine-grape input capacity and 13 national key agricultural-industrialisation firms. Value, output share, capacity share and firm count use no common unit. RMB 68.5 billion is prefecture processing value, the two percentages have separate denominators, and 13 is the reported national leading-enterprise count.
The 17 percent denominator is national processing-tomato output — the 30 percent denominator is Xinjiang wine-grape input capacity — The shares do not rank strength. RMB 68.5 billion covers a wider processing field and cannot be divided across 13 firms. Its expected status for 2024 also remains visible. Value shares cannot be allocated to listed firms, and the leading-enterprise count gives neither category distribution nor plant capacity.
For each share, the table states numerator, denominator, geography and year, retaining “more than” for tomatoes. Value is labelled expected, and 13 means national key firms rather than all processors. A later actual value receives a new row beside the forecast for comparison. For year comparisons, check whether value is current-price, identify each percentage base and confirm enterprise tier, noting every definition change.
- RMB 68.5 billion, two shares and 13 firms use different denominators and cannot be converted into one another.
03 · Changji Agricultural Processing: irrigated farming and raw materials
Grain-oil, tomatoes and milk use moisture, maturity and temperature intake checks.
Changji’s grain and oil, processing tomatoes and dairy share an irrigated agricultural base and park services, but their intake standards are entirely different. Grain and oilseed begin with variety, moisture and impurities; tomatoes depend on maturity and a short transport window; raw milk starts with tank temperature, seal integrity and antibiotic screening. A strong regional input base offers choice but cannot release a particular truck into production.
Waiting causes different losses across the three inputs: tomatoes soften and affect pulping, uncontrolled milk temperature triggers food-safety action, and stored grain is more exposed to moisture and pests. Plants therefore need category-specific booking, queue and rejection rules rather than one input-turnover measure. Peak-season scheduling should place field harvest, vehicle arrivals and production-line cleaning or changeovers on the same timeline.
The intake form should change with the category. A grain or oilseed load records origin, variety, moisture, impurities and bin; a tomato load adds harvest time, maturity and crushing; a milk tanker retains milking time, tank temperature, seal and screening results. A vehicle missing a critical field is segregated for review rather than released because the supplier is large or the plant is short of material.
- Grain relies on moisture and impurities, tomatoes on maturity and raw milk on time-temperature, so one intake sheet cannot cover all three.
04 · Changji Agricultural Processing: parks and processing stages
The high-tech zone provides research services; plant capability follows operating lines.
Changji National Agricultural High-Tech Zone provides research platforms, technology transfer and business services, while COFCO (Changji) Grain and Oil Industry Company is a grain-and-oil plant tied to a specific legal entity. The first describes an innovation environment and the second a production entry point; they cover different spaces and products. Actual line capability still depends on the plant’s equipment, permits and recent operating records.
Laboratory work, pilots, commercial production and expansion projects should be recorded separately. A tomato or dairy trial can show that a route was tested without establishing commercial yield; even an equipped grain-and-oil line depends on inputs, staffing and maintenance. Because Changji processes many categories, a throughput or completion status belongs only to the named product and line.
Before a plant visit, obtain the site plan, licensed products and target-line details, then follow one shift through inputs, changeovers, stops, conforming output and by-products. If a high-tech-zone collaboration operates on the same site, separate experimental equipment from commercial units and check the contract, acceptance and result status. Reconcile the shift with finished-goods stock and lot records before leaving, while retaining distinct legal entities and numbering systems for co-located companies.
- The agricultural high-tech zone supplies research and services, while processing capability still rests with a specific operating line.
05 · Changji Agricultural Processing: cost accounting and quality
Tomatoes change condition through sorting, crushing, preheating and pulping.
A 2025 Xinjiang agricultural report visits COFCO Tunhe’s Changji tomato plant and names sorting, crushing, preheating and pulping, alongside tomato-seed oil and lycopene products. This is one plant and one category, not the whole prefecture’s processing sector, and it gives neither daily utilisation nor finished yield. Cost-guidance material highlights inputs, energy, packing and by-product allocation, but publishes no complete company cost sheet.
Fresh tomatoes arrive during a short harvest season, and maturity, waiting time and damage affect preparation. Once seeds and skins enter by-product routes, main and secondary goods no longer share one measurement basis. Even with the same process names, cultivar, solids and equipment condition change pulp yield — products named in a report are not supply capacity. If by-product revenue, seasonal storage and transport loss remain combined, unit cost for the same goods cannot be compared across months.
A tomato-line visit starts with harvest time, arrival, net weight, maturity and rejection for one truck, then checks temperature and flow through crushing, preheating and pulping. The finished lot links back to inputs, while pulp, seed-skin material and rejects are counted separately. Only recent conforming shifts support delivery and price discussions. An enquiry should clarify input grade, packing, tax and delivery point included in price, then recalculate from actual net receipt on the trial.
- Tomatoes change condition from sorting through pulping and refining, so cost and yield need process-level tracking.
06 · Changji Agricultural Processing: Xinjiang and interprovincial logistics
Long outbound distance places temperature, storage time and rail-road transfer in the contract.
Transport from Changji depends on the condition of the goods. Edible oil and many seasonings can move at ambient temperature, dairy may require refrigeration, and tomato products depend on packaging and commercial sterility. Rail, road, temperature band and transfer warehouses jointly affect lead time, but each category tolerates delay differently.
Long-distance transport magnifies inventory days, transfer damage and temperature variation, so rail and road can be compared only for a defined origin, destination, volume and deadline. Chilled goods need temperature continuity, ambient packs need protection from heat and leakage, and bulk grain or oil also requires seal and weight control. Remaining shelf life deducts storage already used after production rather than restarting from the nominal term.
A trial-shipment plan should state origin warehouse, destination, temperature band, pallet or bulk format, transfer points and latest arrival. Chilled goods retain a full temperature trace, ambient products are checked for package deformation and leakage, and bulk grain or oil is reconciled through seals and weight. If the carrier needs to change route, the buyer should approve it in writing before dispatch, with timing and damage responsibility updated.
- Long outbound routes make storage time, temperature and rail-road transfer part of delivery terms.
07 · Changji Agricultural Processing: three processing entities
Xiaochu, COFCO Changji and Xiyuchun appear in different official records.
A national key-enterprise list names Xinjiang Xiaochu Food Company Limited and Xinjiang Xiyuchun Dairy Company Limited; the grain-security base page names COFCO (Changji) Grain and Oil Industry Company Limited Their contexts concern seasoning, dairy and grain-oil, but identity cards do not turn that into catalogues. Xiaochu, COFCO Changji and Xiyuchun are named in different official records, which confirm only each entity and dated matter.
Appearing on the same national leading-enterprise list gives COFCO Changji Grain and Oil, Xiaochu Food and Xiyuchun Dairy the same recognition tier; it does not imply supply among them or a shared park. Xinjiang, Changji and parenthetical wording form part of the legal names and should not be dropped casually. Each company must separately confirm its products, capacity, customers and ownership.
Before contacting the three companies, verify the full legal name, credit code, production address, licences and payment account, then send product-specific questions to each entity. Seasonings require formulation, allergen and heat-process information; grain and oil require input grades and packaging; dairy requires cold-chain and shelf-life controls. Every abbreviation should resolve to the legal name, and a sample or test from one company cannot be reused for another.
- Xiaochu, COFCO Changji and Xiyuchun represent different food paths, and public listing does not establish transactions among them.
08 · Changji Agricultural Processing: multi-product due diligence
Multi-category diligence selects goods first, then traces input, line, quality and delivery.
Available material identifies Changji’s prefecture-wide processing scale, strong categories, high-tech-zone services and three representative entities, but it does not form a ready-to-order supplier directory. Grain and oil, tomatoes, dairy and seasonings each have distinct permits, seasons, tests and transport needs. An entrant should choose a product first and then follow evidence through its input, plant and lot rather than screen suppliers under the single label agricultural processing.
The easiest due-diligence error is to turn a prefecture advantage into company capability and then borrow one product’s record for another. Processing-tomato share cannot establish conformity at a grain-and-oil plant, while a leading-enterprise list or research platform cannot inspect a dairy lot. Procurement rests on the relevant plant permit, same-specification sample, recent batch, actual yield and transport conditions.
The final working sheet should begin with the exact product, followed by legal entity, input origin, plant, line, standard, sample lot, quotation and logistics. Each field retains its own support, and an unavailable item remains unknown. After a small trial order, reconcile quantity and time across the incoming load, production lot and finished dispatch; annual volume can follow only after the route proves stable.
- Assessment should choose a specific product first, then follow its input, line, testing and arrival performance.
