Anping wire mesh
Anping meshes differ through wire diameter, aperture, weave, welds, coating and edge treatment. Similar-looking products fail differently under filtration pressure, mining impact, wide paper-machine operation or outdoor corrosion. Regional platforms offer manufacturing, testing and research, while selection still returns to medium, load, environment and inspection method.
Formation and regional foundations
Anping expanded from wire drawing and weaving into welded mesh, precision filtration, polyester papermaking fabrics and fabricated products, supported by testing and technology platforms. Different uses push materials, equipment and standards toward tighter tolerances. Shared capabilities lower access to specialist equipment but do not replace lot inspection for a product.
A mesh’s appearance can hide differences in material, weave, connections and service. Anping makes filters, mining screens, polyester papermaking fabrics and fabricated parts; wire and aperture are only the beginning, while welds, finish, edges, pressure drop, impact and wide running each determine a different failure.
Core geography: An Anping network linking wire drawing, weaving, welding, finishing and fabrication across the high-tech zone, shared parks and test platforms
Defect location along one Anping mesh roll
Six positions retaining material, geometry and service differences
Arrows show movement of samples and measurements; every node follows one roll or panel lot.
- Reel sampling point — Heat, diameter, roundness and joints are layered by reel position.
- Weave and weld rhythm — Tension, stops and electrode cycles shape apertures and crossings.
- Coating and cut edge — Thickness, holidays, bends and exposed substrate are inspected.
- Framed installation sample — Edging, connection and refit assess accessible safety.
- Service load station — Pressure, impact or widthwise tension is applied by product.
- Failure-location station — Blockage, breaks, corrosion and mistracking return to mesh position.
01 · Small reel drift grows on the loom
Material, diameter, roundness and surface establish reliability before weaving.
Wire grade, diameter tolerance and surface condition set load and flow behavior before weaving, and are difficult to correct afterward. Stainless, nickel-alloy and coated steel wires of one nominal diameter can differ in strength, elongation, corrosion resistance and springback. Keep reel certificate, heat and drawing pass with the trial weave so breaks or tension variation can be explained. A reel deformed in transport can also create periodic pay-off tension jumps.
Drawing scratches, ovality or joints amplify under loom tension and can become broken wires, aperture drift or local weakness. One measurement at the reel head misses drift from reel changes, joints or drawing-die wear. Oval wire can appear conforming in one direction but change aperture after rotation, so diameter is paired with roundness and surface-scratch checks. Probe force must suit fine wire or the measurement itself will compress the reading.
Measure diameter and surface at several reel positions, retain heat, drawing-pass and joint marks, then conduct a small weaving trial. At receipt, sample outer, middle and near-core reel positions, recording orthogonal diameters, joints and rust. Trace breaks after trial weaving back to reel sections; when anomalies cluster in one layer, isolate that reel before adjusting the entire loom. Isolation names the reel layer so sound material is not rejected with it.
- Heat and drawing pass follow the sample.
- Diameter is checked in two directions.
- Wire breaks trace to reel sections.
02 · Average aperture cannot hide edges and stops
Weave, tension and setting jointly determine aperture across a roll.
Different warp and weft tension at the centre and edges makes aperture error a widthwise distribution rather than one isolated value. Wire diameter, weave and heat setting jointly form the passage, so plain, twill and dutch weaves cannot be compared by opening count alone. Anping’s disclosed fabricated products also make distortion before and after cutting relevant. Dutch weave needs a flow test because visual square counting cannot define its passage.
One measurement at the centre of a mesh roll misses edge draw-in, stop marks, and beam-change joints, while an average aperture can hide a few oversized openings. In filtration, the largest openings may determine retention failure; in guarding, a locally tight zone can concentrate stress and complicate installation. Measurement covers left, centre, right, roll ends, and joints, with any deliverable joint permanently marked and restricted to an agreed use position.
Divide samples across width and length, measure aperture distribution optically, and identify edge and joint zones separately. Divide width into left, centre and right and length into head, middle and tail, then report aperture distribution and defects separately. Measurement images retain warp-weft direction and tension setting, with the same magnification and decision rule used for retest. Software threshold and edge-detection settings are retained with results.
- Different weaves do not share one opening count.
- Oversize and tight openings create different risks.
- Sampling covers width and length.
03 · A weld’s fracture location says more than force alone
Intersection, parent wire and finish share welding heat input.
Welded mesh transfers load at every intersection. An undersized nugget can pull apart, while excessive heat weakens the wire or burns its coating. Correct grid dimensions establish geometry but say nothing about joined area or peel strength. Sampling should cover the centre, edges and positions near a wire change, with current, weld time, pressure and electrode-tip identity recorded because tips on one machine do not wear at the same rate.
One passing pull test does not describe a panel during shear, rolling and installation, because weak points may repeat with machine rhythm. Pulling one favourable weld can overstate a panel. Edge cooling, machine starts and electrode wear can create clustered weak spots; when higher weld strength makes neighbouring wire fracture brittlely, the problem has shifted into the parent wire. Fracture photographs retain warp-weft direction to prevent axis confusion after rotation.
Sample startup, coil change and late-electrode stages, combining pull force, grid dimensions, burn appearance and spatial patterns of weak intersections. Sample intersections by welder rhythm and panel position, recording where pull, shear or bend failure occurs. The set covers machine start and stable periods and, when needed, electrode-dressing intervals so weak spots map to a production period. Weakness along one column points first to electrode and feed rhythm, not average wire strength.
- Correct grid does not prove adequate nuggets.
- Edges and start-up periods are sampled.
- Record pullout versus parent-wire break.
04 · Corrosion often opens at cuts and welds
Beyond coating colour, examine continuity, bending and medium compatibility.
Protective and architectural meshes use zinc, polymer or other finishes, with cut edges and welds most likely to lose continuous coverage. Galvanising, polymer coating and other finishes face different media and temperatures; uniform colour does not mean continuous thickness. Cut edges, bends and welds most readily expose substrate and often start corrosion in salt or outdoor humidity. Coating lot and substrate cleanliness stay together to separate adhesion from corrosion.
A visually even panel can microcrack after bending, and transport abrasion creates exposed points where corrosion spreads. Thickness on a flat centre does not represent sharp edges or connections, and a new coating with good adhesion may crack after cold bending. In acid, alkali or marine salt, substrate and finish are validated as a combination. Blisters after exposure are sectioned to distinguish interface loss from coating porosity.
Measure flat areas, welds and cut edges separately, perform bend adhesion and an environment-specific test, then observe spread from a controlled scratch. Samples cover flat surface, weld, cut edge and minimum bend radius, recording thickness, holidays, adhesion and creep after exposure. Site touch-up specifies cleaning, drying and cure rather than merely hiding rust colour before delivery. Matching touch-up colour does not prove cure; hardness or cure time is checked before return.
- Flat thickness does not represent an edge.
- Substrate and finish are tested together.
- Touch-up conditions enter installation requirements.
05 · Edging turns a roll into an object people touch
Cutting, frames and connections determine installation safety and maintenance outcome.
A mesh roll becomes an installable part only after cutting, bending, edging and connection, operations that can create sharp ends, burrs, weld shrinkage and local pre-stress. Guarding safety therefore covers accessible perimeters, fastener projection and frame stiffness as well as aperture. Corners are both hand hazards and common distortion points. Before production, inspect the reach zone, diagonals and mounting holes, then fit the part to its real support so installation does not pull the frame out of shape again.
A dimensionally correct edge may pull from its groove under tension, while excessive crimping damages fine wire and changes active filtration area. A loose edge can disengage under vibration, while an over-tight edge can break fine wire. A warped welded frame forces panel distortion through mounting bolts, so appearance on a flat table does not represent installed stress. Dissimilar fastener and mesh materials require galvanic-corrosion and isolator review.
Install a sample in the actual frame, checking touch safety, tensile retention, sealing continuity and removal damage before releasing the edge drawing. Build one sample to the installation drawing, check accessible edges with the specified glove, then apply pull, vibration or gate cycling. After one removal and refit, recheck frame, fasteners and mesh tension to ensure maintenance leaves no loose area. Maintenance instructions define safe removal so stored spring force is not released suddenly.
- Accessible perimeter enters inspection.
- Frame warp forces mesh deformation.
- Fastening is rechecked after refit.
06 · Retention and pressure drop belong on one curve
Filtration rating matters only with medium, loading and cleaning method.
Selection begins by plotting a clean-screen pressure-drop and flow baseline in the actual medium, then adding particle load to observe blockage. Smaller openings may improve retention while raising initial pressure drop and shortening usable life. Medium viscosity, particle shape and loading determine the curve; air, oil and hot melt cannot share one filtration conclusion. An oversized pressure sensor hides early change, while an undersized one saturates before blockage.
A clean-filter rating may still lead to rapid blockage, deformation or bypass with sticky particles or pulsating flow. A nominal rating without challenge-particle distribution and bypass sealing has little relation to actual retention. Flow recovery after cleaning does not prove an undamaged mesh; repeated backflushing can loosen crossings or a sintered interface. A cleaning medium that changes wettability also changes the reused flow baseline.
Use representative fluid and particles to plot pressure drop against flow, recording retention, dirt capacity, cleaning recovery and structural integrity. Increase particle loading in the intended medium or an equivalent liquid, recording initial pressure, flow decay, penetration and cleaning recovery. After removal, inspect blockage and edge sealing to separate mesh failure, assembly bypass and an upstream contamination surge. Bypass seals are leak-checked after refit or the next penetration run lacks a baseline.
- Different media do not inherit results.
- Bypass and mesh failure are separated.
- Loading increases stepwise toward blockage.
07 · Falling rock tests mining-screen connections first
Abrasion, lump size, moisture and vibration jointly determine screen life.
Hongxing’s disclosed steel-wire and polyurethane mining screens place Anping products in mineral screening. Wire mesh carries impact through metal and weave, while polyurethane uses an elastomeric structure against abrasion, giving the two different failure modes. Life also depends on drop height, lump size, wet stickiness and tensioning, not aperture alone. Polyurethane and steel screens have different temperature windows, so winter impact results do not transfer.
Static laboratory dimensions do not capture biased feed, loose fastening and repeated impact; damage often starts at a local installation issue. A static tensile test does not reproduce repeated rock impact, and hooks or support-contact zones may wear through before apertures fail. Material elasticity changes pegging and throw, so screens are not substituted by mass per area alone. Different support spacing changes screen bending and local wear relative to the test fixture.
Record machine model, tensioning, feed distribution and inspection stops, comparing wear maps, blinding, fracture location and handled material. Record drop height, top size, moisture and vibration settings and photograph wear positions. After replacement, measure aperture, thickness and connection loosening at fixed intervals, using stop causes to distinguish wear life from accidental damage. Tool damage during blockage clearing is logged separately from normal abrasion life.
- Static pull does not replace repeated impact.
- Material elasticity changes pegging.
- Wear positions are remeasured over time.
08 · Cross-machine tension decides whether a paper fabric runs true
Drainage, sheet marking, seam and dimensional stability need one balance.
Hehuang’s polyester forming and dryer fabrics serve continuous paper machines, but they occupy different wet-end and drying positions with different moisture, temperature and traction conditions. Fabric architecture changes drainage, sheet marking and high-speed stability, so the two products are not interchangeable merely because both use polyester. A wide run also exposes cross-machine tension variation, seams and edge wear that a small static coupon cannot represent. Selection must return to the paper grade, machine speed and exact position on the line.
Local stretch can cause tracking and vibration, while seam-thickness variation creates periodic paper defects that grow with speed. Improved drainage can reduce fibre retention or increase sheet marking, and a flat seam may still lengthen under repeated bending. One permeability or thickness number cannot describe performance under machine speed, vacuum and cleaning. Seam permeability variation is checked against periodic sheet marks over one machine circumference.
Confirm paper grade, speed, vacuum and cleaning, measure tension and thickness across width, and monitor vibration as the seam passes each roll. Acceptance samples cover centre, edges and seam for thickness, permeability, dimensional stability and seam strength, with tracking observed under agreed tension. In use, sheet marks, drainage change and cleaning history are mapped to fabric position before repair or replacement. A failed section of the removed fabric is retained to test whether the new design addresses the cause.
- A coupon cannot represent widthwise variation.
- High drainage may increase sheet marking.
- Service evidence maps to fabric position.
Sources and reading notes
Selection begins with medium, load, temperature, installation and cleaning action before material and mesh structure. Filter samples address penetration and blockage, mining screens address impact wear, and papermaking fabrics add seam and widthwise tension; data from one use does not transfer to another mesh.
