Zigong: dinosaurs, well salt, lanterns and salt-city life

Zigong’s culture is often linked through “salt, dinosaurs, lanterns and food”: the Dashanpu fossil site, well-salt production and transport, lantern craft and salt-city cooking each come from particular places, industries and labour.

  • Recognise the setting in which culture actually occurs — At the dinosaur museum, distinguish in-situ fossils, mounted reconstructions and modern interactives; around salt wells, lanterns and streets, distinguish industrial heritage, festival display and contemporary city busi…
  • Participate only where the setting clearly allows it — Choose official interpretation, open workshops, named lantern festivals and dated public programmes; lantern, education and salt-industry experiences are not assumed to run year-round.
  • Separate residents’ lives, ritual and performance — Do not touch or climb fossil and salt-industry heritage; ask before photographing lantern makers, community life or kitchens, respecting labour and business boundaries.

Understanding Zigong Yantan pumps and valves locally

Pumps transfer energy to fluid while valves isolate or regulate it. Both face media, pressure, temperature, corrosion and leakage but carry different curves and failure points. Yantan links cast-forge work, machining, seals and testing without reducing every fluid machine to one product.

  • LOCAL INDUSTRY · Zigong Yantan pumps and valves — Pumps transfer energy to fluid while valves isolate or regulate it. Both face media, pressure, temperature, corrosion and leakage but carry different curves and failure points. Yantan links cast-forge work, machining, seals and testing without reducing every fluid machine to one product. Zigong’s long pump and valve history built materials, foundry, machining and test capability, while Yantan parks support upgrades through equipment projects and first-unit application. National recognition extends a provincial cluster base, yet centrifugal pumps, pipeline ball valves and special valves remain distinct.
