Honghe: Plateau Valleys, Hani Terraces and Multiethnic Towns

Honghe Prefecture runs from karst highlands in southeastern Yunnan to the Red River valley. Hani terraces, Yi communities, border trade, mining and several historic towns create a complex region. Alu Cave presents Luxi karst and selected local narratives, but cannot represent Yuanyang, Jianshui, Mengzi, Hekou or every community. Landform, language, production and administrative history need separate places.
